Ronnie great 'signing' for the Memories group, you could sell tickets for this one. Scott is a funny, enthusiastic and just a really nice guy. He gave me loads of time when I phoned him for a pre Hall of Fame chat, below is the piece that was used at the Annual Dinner for the the Hall of Fame. If you are free that day, get along, Scott will be entertaining I am sure, Brian
Scott Chaplain, Hall of Fame
As a footballer, Scott was an all action, energetic and enthusiastic midfield man, putting in the yards all over the pitch, running from deep to finish off attacks.
He scored over 60 goals in his three Rovers spells, making over 140 appearances.
Scott joined Rovers, first time, from Ayr United in 2005 with 64 appearances, scoring 26 goals, winning the SPFA’s Third Division player of the year in his second season, scoring 23 goals, then moving to Partick Thistle and a full time contract.
He came from Dumbarton in January 2011, helping Rovers win promotion via the play offs.
The following season, Scott scored 3 vital goals in the 2011-12 play offs scoring the winner against Elgin City to get into the play off final.
He then scored two goals at Cliftonhill against Stranraer on a nerve shredding afternoon to keep Rovers up in the Second Division, via a penalty shoot-out, eventually.
Scott rejoined Rovers from Annan Athletic in May 2013. He was part of the Rovers team that reached the last eight of the 2013-14 Scottish Cup. That was when we were robbed blind at Ibrox against Rangers; our name was on the cup that year.
He scored a vital ten goals from midfield in the 2014-15 season, when Rovers won the League Two championship title.
Scott Chaplain played over 400 times, scoring over 100 times in a 15 year career.
Scott retired on a promotion high in June 2015 when he was offered a position with the Scottish Football Association
Rovers supporters wanted more but wished him all the best in his new career.
Scott played for the Scotland national futsal team and became their coach in February 2018. Futsal is a high speed 5 a side football, the clock stops when the ball goes out of play; they play with a smaller, heavier ball encouraging ball control. Easy to see why Scott would fit in with that type of football.
At the time of the of the Hall of Fame, Scott was that unusual Scotland coach, an undefeated Scotland coach, partly because, at that stage, the Scotland Futsal team was yet to play. (They have since beaten Northern Ireland 8-6 and drew with them 6-6, both away from home in June).
We might be looking at a future Scotland manager.
Scott Chaplain, inductee to Hall of Fame.

Notes from Memories group meeting with Scott Chaplain
Scott was caught up in traffic, so a bit of chat about the Cliftonhill100 exhibition at Summerlea, Peterhead match, the Clyde/Berwick situation, Rovers remaining matches, Rovers players and the Scotland manager position.
Scott arrived full of apologies, and chatted for over an hour fielding questions as he went along and then posed for some photos. He really is such a nice guy. An interesting point was that when he spoke about Rovers, he was saying ‘we’ and you felt he was not doing it for effect.
Scott started by saying that he signed for Ayr United at 16 and became full time. He came on for the last 10 minutes of the League Cup Final 2001-02, Rangers won 4-0. Ayr were relegated, Scott was freed and spent some time trying to find full time football. Among other places, he had a try out at Airdrie but, fortunately, that came to nothing. Jim Chapman got in touch and Scott signed for Rovers in 2005.
Scott made his debut at East Stirling coming on as a sub, he remembers the highlight of his debut was getting a chance which he skied miles over the bar and cement wall. He felt that 8 goals without a pre-season was a good return.
With the benefit of a pre-season, Scott won the SPFA’s Third Division player of the year in 2006-07 scoring 23 goals; at 22 years old Scott felt he was one of the most experienced players in the squad. Scott took his turn of driving the East Kilbride car to Cliftonhill sharing with Ciaran Donnelly, Jamie Ewings and David McFarlane.
Scott got a move to Partick Thistle and a full time contract. In the second season there Thistle ended up second to St Johnstone, 10 points behind. He enjoyed his time there.
Then it was on to Dumbarton teaming up with Jim Chapman again, when Jim was sacked in Scott’s second season, Paul Martin got in touch and lured Scott to Rovers in January 2011. The East Kilbride car was now Ciaran, Barry Russell and Peter Inness. Scott said Ciaran was always a passenger, he did not learn to drive until fairly recently.
Scott helped Rovers won promotion via the 2010-11 play offs. Second placed Rovers went to Hampden, played quite poorly but Scott scored a late equaliser to set up Rovers to win 2-0 in Coatbridge. Rovers won 3-1 against Annan at Coatbridge, and looked on easy street when Donnelly scored to make the aggregate 4-1. At half time, Paul Martin encouraged his team to concentrate on keeping Annan out; Scott turned to his neighbour and said the game is over. Annan quickly scored two goals and Rovers had to hold on for a nervous 25 minutes for a 4-3 aggregate win.
Scott said Rovers had a season of quarters, poor first quarter, flying second, poor third and a final good quarter. Rovers were in the play offs again. Up at Elgin Mick O’Byrne was sent off so Rovers had to park the bus and accept a 1-0 defeat. In the second leg, Scott put Rovers through when he scored with a last minute overhead kick to add to John Gemmell’s earlier goal.
In the first leg of the Final, down at Stranraer Scott said Rovers were lucky to get away with a 2-0 defeat. It was a long afternoon at Cliftonhill with Rovers racing into a 3-1 half time lead with Scott scoring two. Second half and then extra time, the two teams slugged it out but there were no further goals. Scott had to go off, he was unwell at half time, but struggled on for a time. It went to penalties, with Ciaran Donnelly scoring the last to put Rovers through to keep Rovers up in the Second Division.
Paul Martin retired as manager due to ill health and Todd Lumsden took over. Scott felt that Todd did not appreciate his contribution, and when Jim Chapman got in touch he went to Annan. He enjoyed the Annan plastic pitch; he felt it suited his style of play. The highlight of his time at Annan was a 2-1 victory at Ibrox. Scott remembered looking up at the Ibrox scoreboard on 70 minutes and thinking we are 2 up.
James Ward persuaded Scott to re-join Rovers. Coatbridge suited Scott; he had a job at the Commonwealth Games, and was going through Uni as well. He said there were good individual players but the team did not often play well as a team in the league but there was the great Cup run.
Scott passed for the Gary Phillips winner against Motherwell. Then there was the match at Ibrox, and a general discussion on why the Moshni goal was not disallowed. The East Kilbride car was Scott, Barry and Ciaran was still a passenger.
Darren Young replaced James Ward. Arbroath got off to flyer in the league, they were 10 points ahead at Christmas time but Rovers pegged them back and won promotion in 2014-15 with a 3-2 comeback win at Clyde to clinch the title.
Scott Chaplain played over 400 times, scoring over 100 times in a 15 year career.
Scott retired from playing when he was offered a position with the Scottish Football Association
This is not quite all, I will finish with a bit more later in the week.
