I was at the Clyde v Elgin game tonight watching two of our stalwarts from last year - Gemmell and Squib. Gemmell played well, and the 442 Clyde play really suits him. He won pretty much everything in the air, flicking balls on and holding up play. He looked interested, alert and was well up for the game. I've seen him in better shape right enough! He won the free kick that led to the first Clyde goal. The free kick got taken short and quick and a great ball into the box was headed onto the bar by David Marsh. The ball dropped and Gemmell bundled it over the line from close range. Their second goal was a worldy from 20 yards and their third was from a mega long thrown in which was a tactic they deployed to great effect. Noted for next year if they get up!
Squib played well and still has plenty of pace. He set up the Elgin goal with a cracking whipped in cross from the right hand side. He got subbed after about an hour and flung a water bottle at the dugout in frustration, much to the delight of the Clyde fans! He always was pleased at being subbed!!
Decent game all in all.
