In view of the success which this Club have achieved this Season so far would it be ludicrous of me to suggest that a couple of our Directors pay a fact finding visit to this Club to see how they have managed to be so successful. We are never to old to learn and they are obviously doing something right whilst we are obviously not. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Rovers are hindered Laird by our beautiful but crumbling ground and having to rely on football alone for our sole income. Have a look at this from my local Club Broxburn Athletic and have a look at their facilities :- busc.org.uk/I can't list everything they host at the Club but it ranges from Ukulele classed to Zumba classes and everything in between. It used by various Hibs ladies teams and all of the Broxburn Colt teams as well as Livingston reserves. Among the facilities are a 3G pitch,10 changing rooms, Sports Injury Clinic, physiotherapy room, multi-purpose community room, Tae Kwan Do and Judo clubs and the Boxing Club has it's own separate pavilion within the ground. They have revenue coming in all year round apart from 5 days when the Club is closed. There are 3 primary schools in the town all of which have forged strong links to the Club to such an extent that virtually every child attends the Club in some shape or form for a sporting activity. Coatbridge is crying out for something like this and this would be something that would put ARFC at the forefront of the Community. I would love to see something like this happen to Rovers.

The only way ARFC can grow is via a 4g Park.
Put this in and everything else follows .
Income from schools during week, business 7’s after work. boys clubs preferably our own from 6-10. First team & reserves on it Tuesday & Thursday , hire out at weekends for games. Have cafe open at all games. All that would be required after pitch is portacabin.
It would be self funding and allow the pitch to be the heartbeat of the community. Clubs like Cumbernauld Colts, EK , Spartans , Kelly hearts are going to overtake us.

Very good idea. How much do these things cost? Could we get funding?

That’ll explain their success. I wish they’d hung around. It might also be down to James McDonagh being a good manager with experience in JJ. Add to it great recruitment all over the park with players like Balatoni, Shepherd, Henderson, wee sex offender from Hearts

Very good idea. How much do these things cost? Could we get funding? Your probably looking at upwards of £500K for a 4G pitch. A sum that we won’t ever look like getting unless you get support from the lottery people, Sports Scotland etc.

Why can’t it happen? Most of the teams like Broxburn, Cumbernauld Colts etc have a huge number of kids playing under their umbrella do why can’t the Rovers. Surely in a town the size of Coatbridge it’s not beyond us to organise that kind of thing. In a town the size of Helensburgh we have 2 clubs who have approx 20 kids/youth teams between them ranging from 2012 upto amateur level. The other fast rising club in the Coatbridge area are Gartcairn, predominatly a youth football club who with the right people behind them have grown it into what it is today as are Cumbernauld Colts. Surely if we are looking ahead it’s the way to go for us. It just needs organisation to get if off the ground then it just grows especially if there is the correct pathway. We might not get the 4G right away but it helps if you’ve got the interest of the community at heart

Broxburn Athletic definitely were given Lottery money and I believe a large chunk also came from money seized by police from organised crime etc.
I don't see why we as a Club like Rovers cannot approach these clubs and ask how did they go about applying for grants etc.
It's not about a leaky roof or a few weeds at Cliftonhill. We need to be generating money all year round.
There are now a whole host of clubs that are going to be snapping at our heels to take our league position.
