***** updated numbers *****
Football is all about numbers. How many you score how many you conceed, and most importantly how many points you have. 3 for a win 1 for a draw.
So sad as it is I have been looking at numbers needed for safety so here they are
All numbers are based on the last 10 years teams finishing 9th and 10th
Average total for 10th 28.2 Average total for 9th 37.3 Average gap 8.9 Average points per game for 9th 1.032
Then I looked at bottom 4 in league games played and points won
Albion Rovers 15 5 Stirling Albion 15 15 Berwick Rangers 15 13 Cowdenbeath 15 19
Points averaged per game this season
AR 0.33 SA 1 BR 0.86 CO 1.26
Taking the averaged safety points 37.3 from earlier they need,
AR 32.3 SA 22.3 BR 24.3 CO 18.3
Therfor per game they need on average points per game
AR 1.53 SA 1.06 BR 1.16 CO 0.87
For the record the lowest points totals for 10th was 23 in 17/18 highest was 35 in 16/17
For 9th was 34 in 09/10 And 10/11 highest was 43 in 14/15
And the gap was only 2 points in 10/11
Biggest gap was 14 in 17/18

Good work from Chris but I think we are all already quietly resigned to finishing bottom.
The usual rallying cries will be issued and the right words said at the right time but realistically there is no coming back from this.
I personally have never known a team with so few points after 13 games pull themselves out of trouble. Anyone else ?

Also we need to keep our eyes on the 3 top teams at the top of the lowland league table.

It was game over when the then Chairman at a Trust meeting answered the question `Are you preparing for the LL`........answer yes!.

I think it would cost less to spend enough to stay up thanwhat it would cost to try get back up given what the likes of Cove & EK are spending & they haven’t reached League 2 yet. It’s time to have what the NFL calls a Hail Mary and back the manager in January with whatever cash can be rustled up

Ginty...pardon my ignorance but what is a `Hail Mary` (apart from the obvious of course). Incidentally I do not believe the present BOD can `rustle up` sufficient cash to make any impact on our predicament.

I don’t think it would take too much, baring in mind that only have 4/5 months of season left when you sign players. £200pw x 4 players could get you up table , roughly £16k depending on when sign. Starting from scratch in LL would require a damn site more than £16k and you’d still have to compete against some well run clubs then Highland league playoff then L2 playoff....all without share of SPFL tv money

In SPL 2014/15, Ross County picked up 12 points from first 24 games but ended the season with 44 points, finishing 9th and 14 clear of St Mirren who finished bottom. Appreciate things look grim but I don't think we're doomed just yet and I don't think the side is without talent. If we get a result against Cowdenbeath I think there might be a wee run in this team.

With so many bad decisions so far this season I'm not sure how all of a sudden two inexperienced managers with the same player's can improve things. There's probably a surprise win in there somewhere, but a consolidated run of wins I can't see. I hope I am wrong, won't be the first time so let's see what next Saturday holds, we will be too adrift soon.

Lets hope we better ? Brechin City's total of 4 points over the season- we had the lowest points around 1995/96 in the reconstructed 3rd League that got us into the Rothman's Yearbook until Cowdenbeath took the honour !
