I didn't think 'the Kevster' was an inspired appointment but he's done a lot better than I thought. Got rid of some real dross and brought in some better quality, however relative that may be. The last few week's performances have been better so I wouldn't be looking to change him. The QP game in particular. And yesterday's pantomime cameo from that walloper Byrne was what made the difference so I wouldn't judge any of the other 10 or the manager too harshly. Even PJ; maybe it is his confidence. And who can blame him?
So....... what are the rumours of a Boardroom takeover?

Just going back to yesterday. Declan Byrne should be fined and made to issue a public apology. I have noticed that nobody has leapt to his defence and quite rightly so, it was totally reckless and stupid on his part. I also noticed the most blatant penalty about 10 minutes before the end when the Stirling player pushed Ben Reilly I think, with both hands in the box and the referee and assistant did nothing, wouldn't have made a difference to the result but was a stonewall penalty. It was nice to see Gary Phillips back and got a good reception when he came on but I couldn't help thinking that if John Gemmell came on yesterday the reception would have been tremendous but obviously not to be. Yesterday was the first time that I was seriously tempted to leave early but didn't.

Genuine question here: At what point to the BoD assess Kevin Harper’s performance so far? Should we be looking at replacing him with someone who can rally the boys, and add a few new faces, before our showdown with EK/Kelty/Cove? I’m being deadly serious, btw. Let’s not forget Brogan would still be the manager if he never quit. On that basis, I don’t think Harper needs to worry about anything as he will know we have a board who are/were happy to watch the club hit rock bottom on the pitch and in the leagues.

Not true. He jumped just before he was pushed.

I seem to recall an interview where he was given full backing and that he was deemed the right man for the job. Also, recall something that thy were preparing for the lowland league... is that all untrue?

Not true. He jumped just before he was pushed. Go to page 1 of ‘trust meeting - my notes’ thread by Jordie.

If rumours of a Boardroom takeover at this week's AGM are true your wish might come sooner than you think Jordie. No smoke without Caldwell and all that ...... We’re not back here again are we?

In defence of Gary Phillips shouting at other players. They deserved it. The one moment I witnessed Gary put a good pass down the wing to the no.7. He stood and waited for the ball come to him, defender nipped in front of him and stole the ball. No.7 starts shouting at Phillips who shouted back. Memo to no.7. Get to the ball first and don't blame others for your laziness. To much laziness all over the pitch.

There is absolutely no chance of a change of manage and it would accomplish nothing at this stage.
I'm like a broken record here but by the time JB was relieved of his duties it was already too late.
That change should have been made weeks before and even Alex Ferguson in his pomp was not going to save Rovers from the sinking ship named Lowland League.
I will say that this constant run without a win will be eating away at KH and Saturday was a huge step backwards.
We need to forget the myth of catching Berwick as that is just deflecting from the seriousness of our plight.
KH has one task. Assemble a team that is not going to get hammered in the play offs. Right now we are a million miles away from that.
He needs a win but to be perfectly honest I can't see where that is coming from.
I also think a team sitting with 1 win as we approach February 100% deserves to be relegated. No complaints.

I couldn’t make the game on Saturday, so can’t comment with any real accuracy on what unfolded over that particular ninety minutes. What is clear, however, is that we’re destined for a play-off showdown come the end of the season. At this moment in time, it seems inevitable that we will be banished to the Lowland League after being on the receving end of a doing at the hands of East Kilbride/Kelty Hearts/Cove Rangers/Brora Rangers – it does not look good. I remain astonished (and somewhat bewildered) that there are so many ‘Vers fans who are blissfully unaware – perhaps ignorant – at what this could mean for the football club.
The situation is stark and the very existence of ARFC is at risk. What really gets me is that there are so many intelligent, thoughtful, and considered supporters who seem more obsessed with good PR for the club than preserving our SPFL status. When the chains and padlock are fixed on Cliftonhill’s gates, it will not matter how “good” we’ve looked in the papers or how much we’ve contributed personally behind the scenes – that will fade into insignifcance. Crowds will dwindle. An already indifferent Coatbridge will become even moreso.
All the self-congratulatory nonsense that we’ve witnessed over the past few years will be unmasked for what it really was. Those who claim to have the interests of the club at heart continutally, and consistently, have/are making decisions that seem to fly in the face of this pontification. Fighting for surivial? Aye, let’s appoint someone with no experience as a Manager or in the lower leagues to save the day. That would have made sense if we were looking at a comfortable mid-table finish, yes, but there is so much at stake.
Let’s be honest, is anyone truly content at our ‘progress’ since the departure of JB? Still winless. The odd point. Still seven adrift at the bottom. Progress? That would be a few wins. Breathing down Berwick’s neck. Making them sweat. Instead, after their 7-1 defeat the hands of QP on Saturday, I can almost guarntee they were assured all would be OK as ARFC had made a pig’s ear of yet another home game. Conceded 5. Didn’t score. Superb.
The next 4 games, barring a miracle, are already lost. Then it’s Berwick. Goodness knows what that will entail. We are hopless; they can’t be any worse.
We shall see...

It's only January but I doubt if we will see a more accurate or concise post regarding Rovers than the one Jordie has just posted.

Get to the ball first and don't blame others for your laziness. To much laziness all over the pitch. This is probably the one I’ve been talking about. But I’ve seen it completely different from you. The no7 was asking for the ball in behind and had made he move so his body was completely off to receive the ball to his feet. At that point Phillips got the ball, Stirling were open and he should have carried the ball rather than play an immediate pass. His experience should have known this but his lack of fitness stopped him from doing so. But this just proves, football is all about opinions and it is easy to see the game in different ways.

Different angles. Different views. Hopefully we'll get something out of him!
