Sub was definitely Philips.
I wouldn't go anywhere near as far as Peter but that wasn't a complete bust today. PJ had some great saves - including a quite spectacular double save in the first half. Easily MOTM for me. Plenty endeavour from the rest but no real quality. Clyde had better players in every department except their keeper who was a ponderous git.
Newell - how would you describe him? Awareness, positional sense, pace, quality, heart, a decent shot, winning headers in the air...... yep he has none of those attributes. His saving grace today was one perfect through ball for Gerrard who was really unlucky when he tried to chip the keeper. We also had one header from a corner cleared off the line in the first half. A few chances too towards the end of the game and at 1-0 there's always the chance the opposition will score. Unless the opposition is us of course.
No idea why Gerard can't get a game from the start given the debatable quality making the first team in front of him. Mikey was el capitano today. God knows how many captains we've had this season but that seemed a strange decision given Wharton was playing and is clearly more of a leader. Fish completed the warm up last week and this without making the bench so must be there or thereabouts a comeback.
No irony at all in Peter's good-natured ribbing of the Clyde fans telling them that "at least we own our own stadium". Well for the time being at least we do.
Oh and if there is ever any doubt that humans are direct descendents of primates you only have to look at certain elements of the Clyde fans for proof. I lived my first 40 years in Cumbernauld and I've no idea where these people were during that time. Thankfully. It's frightening.
