Even you've given up Briggboy. Is there truly anyone left? You are correct. No Reserve set up in the LL. I'm just a supporter of that set up. It's not been a part cause of the current situation and it does take time for players to develop through it.

Sean Fagan was at Alloa? Michael Hardie was at Drumchaple? So we can't take the plaudits for them sorry. For example if we didn't have a reserve team both would have played in a bounce match or 2, so the club could look at them. It's ok we can bare the fruits of a great reserve set up when in the L L. ProRege the long run?? At what club?? No, without the reserve team set up Livi wouldn’t be here and therefore Sean, Hardie and Gerard wouldn’t be here either. If by taking plaudits you mean bringing players through our system, then might I suggest you give that system a little longer than 6 months? There is now a pathway in place, which includes a close relationship between the under 19’s manager (Josh - who I’m sure would back up the importance AND benefit of the reserve system) and the reserve team manager. I can’t tell you the number of boys from the 19’s who have had games in the reserves, but there has been a few, so maybe very soon we can take the plaudits for some of them coming through.

The reserve set up hardly costs any money and the U19s cost no money to the club whatsoever, the reserve team we have in place is a very young reserve team with even younger flooding in from the U19s. I presume you will see the benefit of this over the coming months. Andy Reilly U19s striker is someone who may look to be breaking through also. However let’s remind ourselfs that developing our own players is massively important. Connor Shields never broke thru right away. Look how important he was for the club. There’s about 9/10 different players all made appearances for the Reserves and one made a first team appearance. Maybe if our league position was more stable then we would seen more of these youngsters. I’m sure the bench at the weekend had about 3 youngsters on it also. Also I’m amoungst all that we have players attending the reserve training the GKs train with first team GK coach as well. I understand it’s a tough time at the club and everyone is looking for someone to blame, however in my opinion just now is not the time for pointing fingers. Now is the time to get solutions and find away of surviving in the league. EK are in LL and participate in the reserve league. There is an U20s lowland league also, however it’s not a great standard.

We don’t have ‘time’ though, that’s the thing...

We don’t have ‘time’ though, that’s the thing... Understandable Jordie. However even if the unthinkable happens and we end up in the lowland league then it will become even more important that we are developing our own players. But the whole reason why this topic came up was because everyone thinks the club is wasting money on the youth set up. When they aren’t. As my post states above it doesn’t cost much at all.

To be fair it isn't everyone just one or two frustrated posters for the reasons you laid out. The Rovers will have to become reliant on self development but the model needs to go right through to 5 year olds.
Keep up the great work.

If we lose SPFL status we will never return....better run, more ambitious clubs with far better facilities in the HFL/LL

Lost on me jgardener?? No it's fact that the reserve set up isn't working or that's my opinion, also I am old engough to say that I have seen the reserve teams in the past for the club not work out as well so I just think it's something that should have thought through better. I get your sense of self pride when one of your boys are promoted to the first team which is good, but I am sorry right now we need battled hardened players to save ARFC.

Think all this stuff highlights is yes it’s great to have reserve teams and stadium anniversaries or talks of women’s teams etc, but the truth is all nearly everyone deep down cares about is the result of the 1st team on a Saturday. At the moment with that being so awful the rest will be questioned cause deep down people just want the 1st team to win some games. Nothing else.
