Try to forget the Rovers’ present on-field predicament and imagine you were visiting Cliftonhill for the first time. What aspect of the ground do you think would impress a newcomer and what would put off him/her from becoming a regular or even coming back occasionally/ever?
For example:
admission price
atmosphere
fan safety
stewarding
stadium cleanliness
price of food and drink
standard of food and drink
etc
Remarks about the stand facing the pitch and such like are strictly off-limits!

Well for a newcomer id suggest giving them a blindfold lol. Seriously though, football in scotland is overpriced so cant really grumble at rovers prices as we are on a par with others. Our catering is pathetic,id score it 1 out of 5 stars,,id give our toilets 0 out of 5 stars (less if it was possible),,sound system pathetic, that stupid tunnel thing being pulled over 5mins either side of each half giving us 10mins restricted view, complete lack of half time entertainment.

Brilliant start, Sharkey! Rovers' adult price (£13) is in the Division's top four - the majority charge £12. £12 or £13, it's almost incidental. The cost of admission to SPFL matches, i.e. value for money, regularly attracts high levels of dissatisfaction when supporters are consulted.

Not that its overly important, but we are the only SPFL team (i think) that doesn't play music through the sound system, toilets are boggin (why put towels there, no ones going to touch them 😂), as for atmosphere its not too bad but thinking a singing section would be good but I can see why no ones singing this season tbh, these are things that have been mentioned to me by bringing non Rovers fans to games

This is a batsh*t crazy topic at this point in the season. All this talk of ‘matchday experiences’ and ‘customer satisfaction’ in my view, undermines the experience of just going to the fitba’ of a Saturday.
I don’t think our catering is that bad and offers value for £. But, that aside, I couldn’t really give a hoot about anything else. The club is what it is. No apologies re: our stadium, the toilets, sound system etc.

The only thing that’s going to make folk come back is a winning team. The cost of the pies and the number of flies in the toilets etc won’t matter a jot if the football on view is crap.

Some people might make a connection between a crap team and the money generated by a club with the SPFL's lowest crowds. The same people might also conclude that the poor support, from a town with just 3,000 less than Kilmarnock, might have something to do with facilities at Rovers' ground.
It seems from the more recent responses on this topic that some of the Cliftonhill regulars are not that bothered by the level of facilities provided but these amenities may just matter to others - and their non-attendance produces poor crowds, low income and a "crap" team.

To be fair Bob I completely agree with what you are trying to do. Matchday experience is very important and a revenue generator if done right. The Rovers is ripe for enhancing this and you've hit the nail on the head re the size of the marketplace (Coatbridge).
However, and it's not your fault, there are more pressing requirements and the silence is deafening.
Just timing my friend.

Well said ProRege, Bob is trying, can`t fault him for that......seems he has a wee bit of knowledge of marketing.
Unfortunately, the club`s very survival is at stake.....most of us can see that but eight don`t............that`s the issue.

Totally agree about timing...considering anything other than the club's retention of its SPFL status seems almost frivolous.
I am just trying to elicit people's thoughts on a newcomer's view of the ground and perceived barriers to attendance.

Don`t be put off, Bob, I (and others )understand what you are trying to do - good on you - but we are in an existential crisis - which we can all see - all but eight individuals.

In fact apologies Bob. Your timing isn't the issue. I am also passionate about the matchday experience and you're bang on. It should be running in tandem with Saving our SPFL status strategy. Same goes for the 100 years celebrations. Right to do now.
However, considering there is nothing from the club re the current crisis and nothing is changing you're at the end of some frustrations.
Keep up the good work. Be great to hear your ideas.

Thanks guys. I am conscious that the last thing Rovers fans want is some smart alec arriving from nowhere and sounding as if he has all or even some of the answers - and I do appreciate that more than a few supporters love Cliftonhill just the way it is.
In terms of increasing attendances, there are things which can be tried but it involves a lot of volunteers - and of course Rovers are already in debt to a number of people who devote so much time to the club.
It is my intention to present a discussion document to the Board imminently but, even if it is well received, it will be my strong recommendation to not implement any of my suggestions until the end of the season. First things first!

Well said...........particularly the last part. That`s part of the problem, the BOD seem fixated on Anniversaries, Buddy clubs, Thursday clubs, Memories Clubs...Fitness Clubs...etc...when ALL energies should be focussed on the current crisis. At least you have your priorities right.
