Hello from English/welsh border ! Always had a soft spot for the Scottish Albion Rovers as I follow the Welsh Albion Rovers whose ground is around a half hour drive from me. It's great to see the great escape could be on seeing you looked dead and buried a month or so ago. I will be following the massively important game v Cowdenbeath on Tuesday evening with great interest. Good luck and would be great to see them off the bottom of the table at last....although didn't expect Berwick to beat Peterhead last week ....there are sure to be some more twists and turns yet ! With regard to the Welsh Albion Rovers they are currently bottom of Welsh League div 3 too, having been promoted back to the Welsh league at the start of this season after a 5 year absence....here's a link to the current table... www.allwalessport.co.uk/football.aspx?cid=5188Anyway all the very best for the rest of the season and will be following your fortunes from afar.. Thanks, Paul,

Always nice to hear from other Rovers. We must be the lowliest club with so many others named after us!
Wales, Ireland and Australia that we know of, I see you've 5 games in hand on the team just 2 paces above so a decent change of climbing the league. Good luck.
I'm sure we played each other at Cliftonhill some years ago and I think we won?

Yes i'm sure there was a game many moons ago between the two sides, not sure what the score was though...I would have expected you won as the Welsh version plays at a much lower standard than yourselves .
The Welsh Albion Rovers were formed in 1937 by Scottish miners working in South Wales who named the team after the place where they came from...namely, Coatbridge !!.

The legend that is Jock Stein left Rovers to play for Llanelli due to his work as a miner in 1950.

Let's hope you survive and go onto greater things. Imagine one day the Welsh, Irish and Scottish Albion Rovers in the challenge cup!

The match was in the early 1990s and the Coatbridge version of the franchise won 2-0. The Welsh Rovers attended the match on the Saturday versus Brechin and then played on the Sunday at Cliftonhill.
