Just before the first penalty I was confident we were going to get something - not, I have to say, through quality but a bit of fight that had begun to show. I didn't really get a decent view of the incident but the general opinion (including some of the QP support) is that it was a blatant dive and it killed us. Them's the breaks, folks, and we could cry into our beer (or, in my case, a very nice Macallan Gold) but we still have the lifeline that our destiny is in our own hands. If we get to the Berwick game needing a victory to survive I believe we have a fighting chance. As to the Hardie situation, regardless of the huge contribution he has made recently, if it is true he went AWOL for a second time it perhaps explains why we were able to get him but he has to be dumped. I agree that's potentially the reason we were able to get Mikey. I wouldn't dump him though. We need all the best players playing. Fine him, boot him in the b@ws or whatever it is that happens at this level and move on. I was in favour of dumping Byrne after his sending off but that would have been a big mistake.

Hardie goes AWOL on two occasions and we get hammered 4-0 both times. That's how important he is to Rovers survival. As much as I'd like to say he should be punished the bottom line for me is we can kiss goodbye to any hopes of finishing 9th if we do.
Yesterday just showed how vulnerable we are - take two of our best players out of this team and we are just not up to it.

We will need to trust the manager's judgement here. Survival is the most important thing at the moment. Good point about Byrne above. Doesn't lessen the extreme disappointment about yesterday.

Unless he had a very good reason not to be there-then I wouldn't play him again regardless if it weakens the team. You cannot pick and choose when you want to turn up and contribute-especially at such a vital time in our season. Also would make the manager look weak,as if he could just waltz back into the team.Maybe I'm wrong, but it's just my opinion.

That's the thing Jimbo we spent 3/4 of last season defeat after defeat applauding Queens Park and Forfar getting beat ......that ended well. The more pertinant point is QP got relegated alongside us, how have they ended up with the team they have yestersay and we haven't? B-R-O-G-A-N And possibly some help from an sfa bung. Let's face it they will never be allowed to go bust. Hence a bunch of fans as arrogant and obnoxious as Clyde.

I suspect if it was a football related reason for the 'no show' then JD would have been on here by now to say just that.
Beyond that he wouldn't be the first young guy to not be focussed on his work for any number of reasons. If it's something where he needs help then like any reasonable employer he should be afforded that help, not cast aside.
..............And we move on.

FFS, it's like welcome to the 1970's on here sometimes.
Employment law...... contracts..... due process......... player's union.......... duty of care................ etc etc. Apply the process, whatever it is, and move on.

d7, on reflection I have to agree with you re due process. As a union rep I should certainly have considered matters more carefully before posting a hasty opinion. I blame a (modest) Saturday night alcohol intake and a degree of frustration, the latter not least because the guy in question has been a very significant factor in our recent degree of success.
Regardless of any further contribution from Hardie helping to keep us up, I really hope the lad, whatever his issues, gets himself sorted out and makes a footballing mark of some degree. Good luck, son.

There is a huge difference between a player having personal problems and a player deciding not to turn up on the day of a vital game.
If he is having problems he contacts the Club and says so and the whole Club and the fans support him fully.
If he decides, for the second time this season, to pull a no show without explanation on the day of a game then that is gross negligence on the players part and an insult to the Club and fans.
To be honest Saturday was such a diabolical showing I'm not sure what difference he would have made but then again an unexplained disappearing act from one of your players is likely to unsettle any team.

Seriously Tommy? If you miss your work - for any reason - do you really want all your colleagues, friends, your organisation's customers etc knowing why? Regardless of what happened - and it's all conjecture - it's a private matter. No one else's business. It gets dealt with and we move on.
