Can anyone tell me what has happened to this regular poster?? Was very vocal about things with the club, but seems to vanished into thin air😑😑 I seem to remember them being very vocal when all the scaremongering was going on about folk taking over the club & not in a positive stance for the club. just wondering what has happened to such a regular poster??
Nanook, are you 100% certain that he put money into the club?? If u mean by buying a season ticket as putting into the club, good on him. Do u know if his advertising boards that are around the club have been paid for?? I know 100% this man was only trying use the club for his own gains, so u keep your own suggestions to yourself until you know the real facts!! Tell you what to do read the Coatbridge & Airdrie advertiser on Wed & then you can come back on with your suggestion or comments.
Yeah - I'll bite since at least one person is missing me here, one more than I thought . For clarification I paid in several thousand to the club last year through various means - platinum season ticket, multi board advertising, supplying vehicles for away games (players kit), one of two main sponsors for "Game of Two Halves" and some player sponsorship via the Supporters Trust. I have never raised this before and only raised it now due to, for whatever reason, someone is now questioning that commitment.
My intention this season was to increase that commitment but I decided against it prior to the League Season starting. My last game was St. Mirren cup game and last appearance was at the initial Development meeting. I do not visit the message board as I do not contribute to the club in the many forms of contribution that people make. Whether that be Directors, Playing squad, backroom staff, all the volunteers and of course the hard core supporters. I feel it would not be right of me to express opinion on something that I am not contributing too. As Brian has pointed out I do have a strong opinion but only when I have skin in the game. So, disappear may be the right word but for the reasons stated.
As for "my own gains" and "scaremongering" I have no idea what you think you know but you are way off the mark. I joined the club way before any malarky last year and stayed right through it all until end of August. In terms of "own gains" I do not know anyone that has "gained" from Albion Rovers, I most certainly have not. There is nothing in it for me and if I stayed on for the next 20 seasons there would still be nothing in it for me (and that is probably true for the majority of people who put their time, money and effort into the club).
Anyway, its all very interesting but thats my update. Thanks for the concern but I'm "disappearing" again. Wish the Rovers, and everyone, all the best this season.
Sorry to see ProRege has lost interest as he was very keen at one stage (as his sponsorship attests). He has not given any reasons for the sudden change of heart.....but if I was to speculate: he was way too close to the David Caldwell way of thinking, including the (in my view) totally unfair criticism of the current BoD. Now that DC has shown himself to be a charlatan, and the BoD looks more secure, matters at the club have not moved as he (ProRege) would have liked. Whatever the reason, it is never good to lose a sponsor.
I look forward to seeing this week's Advertiser, briggboy. You've bigged it up now, so it'd better be good!
