BBC stats suggest, a pretty even match, text first half was Elgin's, second was Rovers. My son was at the game, thought Rovers did not deserve to win but did not deserve to lose either. He led the cheering when the ball hit the post late on, then ran along the line and was cleared. On another day it would have gone in, lady luck elsewhere last wee while. The play offs at the top are out of the question, job is to avoid the other play off. Don't see too many games, geographically challenged, but what I have seen does not match the level of pessimism on here. OK, I am a happy clappy, although happy or sad we are all entitled to our opinion.. Don’t believe bbc stats just ask jaydee At last something we agree on. Didn’t think Elgin had the better of the first half, first half of the first half maybe.

The defence were edgy yesterday no doubt as the game started. But for me two goals came from individual errors. Daniel Scally gave the ball away when he should have sent it up the touch line- had tonnes of time to do it- fair play to him he’s probably our best player and got us back in the game with a goal. Second goal again poor clearance from the new boy (I think) straight to Elgin winger on the right who sent the ball in for the second.

I would say we had the better of both halves but especially the second. I don't remember much of Elgin being in our half.
Fact is they didn't need to be - they got their lead and held onto it.
The most frustrating thing about this run is that its not like a Brogan run where we have been outclassed and thrashed. Three games lost by a one goal margin shows that these were eminently if not winnable then "drawable" . We pushed well in this game at the end and were unlucky but in the other two games we didnt seem to be able to hit that switch for the last 10-15 and go all out looking for the leveller.
Defence looked a bit shakey today at the start which is understandable it being a configuration we have never played before but as Bucky says the goals were individual errors basically lapses of concentration. Team selection wise I get why people think See should have started but I've been equally puzzled the last few weeks that East wasn't starting when he's our best finisher. I think the issue is that all of our better players play upfront theres basically 4 spots for 6 players to fit into .
In centre mid the new boy looked completely lost to me , im surprised he was in from the start he struggled to pick up the pace of the game and to understand where he was supposed to be. I'd have Morrena in that spot all day long. I think Morrena holding allows Graham to get forward a bit more and do what hes better at.
Really tough run coming up now- hopefully we can dig in .
If we want to say its down to us and Brechin there are two ways too look at it. We play them 11/4 , They have quite a nice run of fixtures between now and then - Annan (x2), Elgin, Cowedn ,Stenny Cove. Where as we need to play 8 games 4 of which are against the top 3.
Thats does seem pretty bad i'll accept but if i were to put a happy clapper spin on I'd say • Cowden are on a bad run of form after being consistently 3rd all season. No better time to have two games against them • We are 7 points ahead and have two games in hand – you could look at this as we can almost write off the two hardest games here – Cove and Edinburgh away as free hits. Anything from these is now a bonus. – clutching I know. • If we maintain the 7 point gap a win in that game would see us safe with three games to spare. • Lastly we are averaging a point a game at the moment (24 from 24) if we stay on that we will get 36 points. Brechin are averaging 0.6 points a game they would need to improve to 2 points a game over the last 10 games to get to 37. That would mean they would need to win at least 5 of their last 10 games presuming they draw the others. Our form during the last 10 games last season would not get them to 37 points.
Of course this is all predicated on us keeping up some semblance of form. Luckily there is absolutely no precedent for a team to absolutely nosedive in the last 10 games of a season and allow a team who looked doomed to escape greatly.
Was I bored at work this morning – yes !

I was thinking about airing my views on Saturday's match but young Tennent has pretty much said it all for me. I would perhaps just mention See's bad luck in his (almost) well-placed effort which came off the inside of the post. I certainly don't see anything at the moment to suggest we are likely to finish bottom, though neither do we look as though we will string together a run of victories to propel us substantially up the table.
I agree with Sam about the new boy at no.6 - not great, though the other first-timer who came on as a sub showed some promise.

Problem is the defence looks shaky in most of the games regardless of personnel. We are losing the same type of goal week in week out and that is why we are rooted near the bottom.

It is the loss of really early goals - within first 20 minutes - that often dictate how we have to chase the game from then on in. Opposition teams always seem to be on the high press during this time and we crumble too easily. It is too often a chase without a kill and 3 points lost too often.
