You don’t have to dig too far into our past when John Devlin’s coupon was never off Sky News when we were giving £10k away to charity, pay what you can season tickets and Cash for Kids third strips (which was never worn. All hyped up but with one slight problem they were all a drain on the club finances and the first step to what was almost the beginning of the end of our beloved Rovers.
I’ll be honest I don’t how this system of streaming actually works but anything that means a viable income especially when there is no guarantee of crowd attendance at matches and long term benefit for the club should be welcomed.
We’re all entitled to our opinions but can I ask the disappointed and the underwhelmed what is it exactly were they expecting?

Time will tell on popularity. No disrespect meant on the money he's put in and the fact that ordinary fans raised a similar amount was incredible but it was still overhyped and a bit underwhelming especially as the plan was already rumoured some time ago. One question I would ask and I'm sure has crossed some minds. Would season ticket holders have to pay again to see league games they've already payed for?

Well I'm impressed, especially about the referee in-game updating stuff (see the STV report). When's this Dumbarton friendly then? Can we send replies to the ref? 😉

I'm astounded, but not surprised, at some of the cynicism surrounding Mark's extremely generous gesture. This has been par for the course for a long time from certain parties. What the hell were some people expecting that Mark was going to inject a million in the Club, build a new Stadium or give the manager an unlimited player fund. Dream on and appreciate an innovative plan that would be the envy of many Clubs and could prove a good income stream for the Club. Well done Mark

It's not cynicism just disappointment. As I said above perhaps some of the more sensible points in the three wishes thread and something matching the hype? It was all just a wee bit of an anticlimax.

Perhaps some of the more sensible points in the three wishes thread and something matching the hype? Some of the suggestions from the three wishes thread range fairly widely ( some of them tongue in cheek). Your three wishes were reasonable with one of them being getting the crowds back to the San Siro which maybe outwith the clubs control. From what Mark Millar has invested from his own pocket will be the next best thing to being at the game. If anything the last few months had taught us especially with the crowd funder set up by Jordie is that there is still a lot of good will to Rovers out there and there is a generally untapped market for income stream from exiles and fans who are unable to attend matches. As for the hype I don’t have any problem with that if it puts Rovers on the map. As the wise old sage says “you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.

An anticlimax indeed, Jimbo! I’m not for a second saying that I’m not happy at the news/see the merit in the project. It was marketed as something unique to the Rovers. But, when you read the fine print, lots of other SPFL clubs have the same thing in place already. I sincerely thank Mark Millar for the gesture & kind investment. If it makes the money back, and then some, it’ll be a worthwhile endeavour. But the hyperbole and hype surrounding the story had perhaps created the impression that something BIG was on the cards for ARFC.

Any investment is welcome and appreciated, of course it is, but was expecting game-changing news given the torrent of anticipation and language used by Mark re: the announcement. This was not what I had in mind...or was expecting. Can you tell us what it was exactly you were expecting?

Always best to rely on the wise words of Chuck D and Flavor Fav - Don't Believe the Hype!
I can't understand why MM is getting a bad rap from some. Remember that the usual thing in the recent past has been for people to say what amazing plans they have for the club but have nothing to back it up other than their own selfish egos. MM could have said nothing in advance and everyone would have been surprised and delighted at the announcement - and maybe that's how he should have played it. But the bottom line is he promised something and he has delivered. It's great to have him on our side.

Something matching the huge, bigger you can believe hype I would imagine. After weeks of hyperbole it's welcome but a bit lame. Also don't think it'll bring in as much revenue as some hope but time will tell. Just hope it can survive the usual neds as it looks rather exposed in the photos.

Only 4 teams from the bottom division.... Only 4 teams from League 1 and league 2 HAVEN’T signed up to it. This means that fans will be able to see almost all of our games home and away, the gaffer can do proper analysis of our performances and how the opposition have been playing. It could (potentially) also lead to proper coverage of our lower divisions on TV by selling the footage to a broadcaster, whether that be BBC, STV, SKY, BT sports, PREMIER SPORTS or even channel 5 who do a similar thing for the lower leagues down south.

Only 4 teams from the bottom division.... I'm not an emoji expert Grant but are you saying you disapprove of the 6 teams not participating. Maybe they can't afford or are not willing to invest in the installation and operational costs of this development. While I am pleased to see us involved with the help of Mark Millar's investment I think the decisions of other clubs should be respected. Ronnie

Well I am just delighted. Thank you, Mark.
Living in Shetland means getting to Cliftonhill is an expedition, expensive in cash and time. Now I can tune in and watch every kick of the ball from the comfort of my living room. Just brilliant. A real boost for exiles long term, and for everyone else while supporters are not allowed in.
What is not to like?
