I'm guessing Reilly already has land around Cliftonhill and it could be a long-term plan to relocate Asda or something similar to there. Over 80,000 vehicles pass by every hour peak time. Ideal location for a superstore. I'm extremely disappointed but not surprised that Messrs. Watt n Meade are getting involved with this chap. Let's beg SLC Chief Exec, and soon to retire lifelong Rovers fans, Clelland Sneddon, to get on the Board and steer this ship from the icebergs. I'd happily give him my shares if he agreed. He has delivered first class services in East Lothian, Argyll and Bute and latterly South Lanarkshire. If he can improve them, he can work miracles with the Rovers. Peter

As a club we seem to suffer from a lack of progressive individuals who have the genuine desire and cash to take the club forward. When you look around at clubs like Alloa/Stirling and Stenhousemuir - to name but a few - we are often or not at the back of the Q when it comes to competing in the modern footballing world. How I wish we could have a Wrexham scenario or even a Queens Park metamorphosis that would transform the club. We have a great band of supporters/volunteers etc who devote their time and effort to the club, but that alone cannot transform us for our immediate or long term future. We need to seek out genuine people with the know how and financial clout for the club that can be a positive factor rather than the shadow of Third Lanark looming over us at this critical time in our history.

The starting point at the moment is to make sure that the club does not end up in the hands of some shyster. Once that is done, we can take it from there.

80,000 vehicles per hour works out at over 20 per second - that is one very busy road!

My, and other requests for an EGM were largely ignored. Can the Board just deny an EGM?
Felt the tone of the meeting was against Paul Reilly, he did not help make his case by being so aggressive, think Paul managed to turn some initially neutral against him and his plans. There was very little actual detail.
However, Paul did have some support in the hall but I think that is largely because the board is nor seen as working together or working in the right direction. Time for Board members to start working together, they do not have to be friends, but they need to work together. If they are not willing to work together, then they should step aside.
Many things are needed. There could be 9 directors. We need more people with some skills to join the board, and work together.
At several points, questions were asked about long term plans. No long term plan was spelt out.
Paul Reilly is not the answer. The Board might be the answer but they must up their game.

Phil,
You can drive on both sides of the road and I'm fairly certain that's the figures quoted by the poster companies. In a previous life we bought some posters for the Advertiser when I held the purse strings.
Back in the days when paper was king.

Peter marmiteman has been called out for this, previously. Absolute nonsense. The idea that the Cliftonhill site is prime real estate needs permanently punctured.

Peter, that works out at traffic literally nose-to-tail in both directions travelling at 125mph.

Now if you had said 12.5mph I might have believed you as the town frequently is gridlocked...

So where are people hearing than Anton Fagan is considering selling his Shares? Only on this thread that I've seen/heard. Where has this idea come from?

Never mind this rubbish. The absolute bottom line is whether we sit back and allow some shyster to take over our club, or we stand up to it. Well, at least we are safe in the knowledge that he can do nothing unless he has the backing of the majority of shareholders. I have 10, so I am one of the 'irrelevant'. Thus, it will take several 'major shareholders' to back this person in order for him to succeed. Given the long history of this club, I feel sure that no-one with any semblance of support for Albion Rovers FC will allow this to happen. I await confirmation of this belief in the near future. It really is as simple as that.

See above. 'A major shareholder'.

Rumour has it that the major shareholder may now be willing to sell his shares, if the price is ‘right’. Hopefully he will clarify his position before the imminent(?) EGM. Just saw this. Never seen it earlier . Cheers for the update Bill . I heard a similar story in the summer so maybe the rumour has some legs.
