Is everyone still enjoying their 'football is a winter sport' mantra ?
This lack of income must be crippling the Club.
Either we can keep listening to Stewmelrover and the Village Green Preservation Society or we can rejig the football season so that we are not playing December and January.
The number of blank mid-weeks we should have been scheduling games into is completely negligent.

I think you are massively overestimating the amount of money the club bring in on a Saturday compared to a midweek game

I would have thought Tommy made a fair point. Some midweek games there's literally no more than one man and his dog there. Can't believe we are in a financial position anyway to knock back any difference in income at all, but maybe I'm wrong.

It's not just the difference in crowd but other income streams that are affected when we play midweek.
Both out own and away fans will be less in numbers, food sales, 50/50 .
Perhaps Ronnie could offer some figures but I reckon the difference in crowd would be about 20% at least.
The point is we won't survive with no income .

Is everyone still enjoying their 'football is a winter sport' mantra ? It made me even more certain winter is the way as there's nothing worse than a free Saturday in that season. In the summer there's a much better choice of alternative pursuits.

I used to agree Roy but the fact is we are NOT playing football in the winter anymore.
Football is no different from any other sport, pastime or hobby .People have choices they can make.
I also think your average 14 year will be less inclined to watch football in freezing temperatures as my generation did.
Anyway. I think those choices will eventually be made for us.
I also think a lot of the pitches we used to play on would no longer pass pitch inspections so postponements will continue to rise.

But I have clear memories of midweek games bringing in less money than if the game had gone ahead as scheduled on the Saturday. I make that 4 out of our last 5 home games have been postponed which is not good for cashflow. Ronnie

I think that would have been when we were in a league where away teams would bring fans
