I am sure we will survive, and possibly even thrive, without a DoF. Could probably make better use of a plumber. Why do we need a plumber, just get a punter in to do it, if we dont need skills at the club? Contradictory statement ?

Some comments are quite amazing, you want a good team and success, but dont want anyone at the club who can make that happen? Lack of ambition will be the clubs downfall. just my opinion! How on Earth the club survived 135 years without a DoF is beyond me.

Bucky, never mind titles like DOF, etc, the club needs people with business and or football experience, David Caldwell had both and in my opinion his departure is a loss to the club. With no disrespect intended to anyone, careers in public services don`t exactly prepare individuals to run a business - and at the end of the day that is what ARFC is - negotiating with bank managers, football authorities etc etc. You only have to look at the BODs at other clubs - Forfar as an example - to see the blend of skills and experience that their off field Club (not team)management team bring to the party.

No doubt it is a difficult task. Must have to be a jack of all trades. Split personality of sorts?

I agree with Grant. Forget the title, it's what he did that counts. I thought it was a daft appointment at the time but the job title seems almost a symbolic one. Some people like that ego boosting thing I guess and it sits better on the old CV. Certainly sounds a bit more glamorous than Handyman - no disrespect to any Handymen out there.

Grant I agree with your comments on David, I too am not being disrespectful to anyone, I just hope the club is supporting the manager and hope David’s departure and todays result is not a reflection on things to come. I did hear one of the reasons for David’s departure was he was unhappy about the team training on the pitch? I was told today from another volunteer, the club refused to reimburse him when he paid for the team to train at a 3G facility and left on a matter of principal when unsupported on another matter? Respect to him if this was the case and wish him well.
