Not being one who has ever ventured into the stock market but what would the price of a single share in the club cost these days.......just looking at the possibility of a bid if or when the Lottery folk knock my door and tell me that the ticket that has been lodged in the darkest recesses of my wallet for ages is the missing ticket for an unclaimed mega millions lottery prize!!!

Good question Sam. If the main shareholder will not agree to a share issue then could the main shareholder not be persuaded to sell part of their shareholding to the fans. I suspect any existing share sales would have to be approved by the board ? It seems ludicrous in the day and age of fan ownership that an employee of the SPFL would want to hold back the progress of a member club.

I'm just a supporter, have been since as far back as I can remember, my father and grandfather as well, we have never had shares, never been offered any just like many other real supporters of the club. Maybe if these other 'major' shareholders really appreciated what the club means to us then perhaps we could all get the opportunity to have a proper say in what happens up the 'hill. One can only hope After a week of Rovers fans whistling in the wind wondering what will happen to their club, this post from Sam goes to the nub of it.

Rovers shares are priceless. Beyond price and, more importantly, beyond buying. My understanding is that Rovers are a private limited company. When shares become available, they go before the Board first and Board members can buy them. I cannot remember any shares going on general sale ever, I could be wrong on that but willing to be corrected. You can see how a self perpetuating clique can become established.

Sounds like money problems going on behind doors, this is a problem now for many years, business people coming on the board trying to sort things out, and find out its harder to do then want out, this is not the time to have a problem like this when were trying to get behind Rovers to stay in this Divison and give them all the help we can.

Watch Third Lanark on BBC iPlayer. First shown on BBC Alba, some Gaelic commentary, but interviews in English. Quite sad how the team was closed down.
