We have achieved what no manager nor indeed team, nor pitch, nor groundsman, nor board of directors have managed (without the aid of play-offs) since about 1937. I would have thought some congratulations would have appeared here on the anniversary of the first title win since 1989. So I'll do it: I am absolutely delighted that my team has achieved this superb position in Division One. Congratulations to Darren Youmg and all the team. David Higgins

We sometimes need to take a step back, put things into perspective and just say, well done team! To be honest, win draw or lost the team have put in a great effort and been applauded off the park most weeks. We have been the surprise package this season and may have done better if we had a recognised striker playing regularly. Today was always gonna be a tough match with Cowdenbeath still battling for survival. Our last 3 games were never gonna be easy with each of them scrapping for what they can get. What I didn't expect was the collapse of Dunfermline at Stranraer. Whats going on there then eh? Think it's a bridge too far.... but always the optimist, Its not over til its over. Stranger things have happened.

The football played at the San Siro today was far from entertaining but who cares!!
League 1 Beckons again - Oh yes!!!
Amazing achievement for a Club of our size.
Have to ask the folk who were giving dogs abuse to the team today - what ARE your expectations???
Reckon a few guys thought promotion to the Championship was our target this season???
Anyway - ONWARDS AND UPWARDS!!!!!

A fairly uninspiring game today if I'm honest. A few chances at either end that neither team could convert, nor did they really deserve to. We suffered from the same ailment that has 'dogged' (more on that later) us all season - namely an inability to convert our chances. In truth the game could still be going on now and you could bet your bottom dollar it would still be 0-0. And if truth be told, both sides would be lucky to have nil.
Before kick off the weather wasn't quite sure what it was doing. It was a fairly bright day but bitterly cold and the hailstones just prior to kick off were a bit unseasonal. We were once again in our now familiar all black kit and we went into our wee pre-match huddle. With Ally suspended and by now fully proficient in his shoe lace tying, the team seemed to be providing Archibald with some encouragement. Either that or helping with his trigonometry homework. I guess we'll never know.
The game kicked off and we took the game to Cowdenbeath. With only a few minutes gone we worked a slick passing move down the right hand side which finished with a ball into the box. At that point a wee black and white dug entered stage left. I've seen some referees this year who would have booked it for entering the field of play without permission, however this mutt was allowed to join in. It certainly created some confusion with both teams but nevertheless, Ferry found himself through with just the keeper to beat. As is now customary with our strikers, he just rattled the ball straight at the keeper to make it easy for him. The keeper, and to be fair Ferry himself, may have been distracted by our 4 legged friend but he made a complete hash of it and nearly allowed the ball to cross the line. However he recovered just in time to save the day. It was a sitter and we should have been 1-0 up.
The wee dug then disappeared and the game continued. But two minutes later it was back! This time one of the Rovers officials huckled it away and it was reunited with its owner. A happy ending. Meanwhile both teams were making heavy weather of it and it wasn't a footballing masterclass by any means. Cowdenbeath had a couple of chances and keeper Ross had a few decent saves to make. At the other end Fish swung in a free kick which Mick threw himself at in order to get a diving header on target which the keeper saved well. And then a decent move saw Reidy go on a good run which took him into the box. He got a shot away at a really tight angle but although the keeper saved well at his near post, a better option would have been to cut the ball back.
So 0-0 at half time and no real complaint about that. Our subs came on with two coaches putting them through their paces. One coach worked with the keeper whilst the other combined a passing drill with what looked like a line dancing routine. Fortunately there was no line dancing music, in fact, what has happened to the half time tunes? At least the Cowdenbeath subs provided me with my fix of aimless shooting; thanks lads.
Into the second half and what had been an uninspiring game actually got a little worse - no mean achievement really. We had a few good chances but every time we got within shooting distance we seemed to want to be too over elaborate. So too many passes, too many wasted opportunities and no goals to show for our efforts. Cowdenbeath started to come into the game a bit more and a decent move saw Ross make a fine save down to his left hand side. We gave away a few free kicks around our box and between that and the odd corner, we had a nervy moment or two as we didn't cover ourselves in glory defensively. Reidy obviously had a few quid on himself as first scorer today as he tried a long range effort which didn't trouble the keeper.
Georgiev's pace caused the odd moment of panic for the visitors but without really creating much. Georgiev has a nice touch and some skill, although he did give us a laugh when he tried a 'Ronaldo-chop' in the first half and tripped over his own feet! Could happen to anyone I suppose.
There ain't really much left to report on. It was a dour draw played out by two fairly average teams. I did find my mind wandering a bit in the second half - pondering life as you do. I found myself looking at us playing in our black strip, again, and thinking that if I had designed it I would have put stripes down the sides of the shorts. Even Ross Dunlop seemed to get annoyed at the lack of creativity in front of him. So much so that he took matters into his own hands mid-way through the second half. He collected the ball deep in his own half and broke forward, ghosting past a couple of opponents in the process. He got as far as the Cowdenbeath penalty area before realising he didn't have a single team mate in support! Kind of sums things up actually.
Attendance today was 356. How disappointing is that? After our fine away win last week and the fact we had plenty to play for today, maybe even still do, 356 is a bit of an insult. The sponsors man of the match today was Georgiev. He did well but in fits and starts. Fish was his usual industrious self, Mick won everything in the air again, keeper Ross made a few decent saves and any of them might have been a better choice.
Up front and without Ally today we were devoid of any real talent. Archibald is obviously quite young but I thought he looked way off the pace. Ferry lasted about 80 minutes before being hooked but I thought he offered very little and could have been hooked with 80 minutes to go if we had any alternatives. Not for the first time this season we couldn't buy a goal and certainly the lack of fire power is a consistent problem.
Having said all of that of course the season could have been a lot worse. We've cemented our place in this division and we are difficult to beat. Most people probably thought we were certainties to go straight back down. The league sponsors had us favourites to finish last in the league. So credit where it's due and no real complaints. Another season in League 1 awaits and well done on achieving that to all connected with the club.
Other results didn't really help us today and Stranraer have definitely got momentum at just the right time. It'll be an interesting last couple of games........maybe more if we're really lucky!

A great day nonetheless.

Agree with all the comments on staying up. Congratulations to all in cementing our place in Division 1. A fantastic achievement. Apologies for the moan about the pitch but it is in a poor state. A groundsman's job is a highly skilled one and we need someone with the knowledge to do this properly. It is not just about cutting grass, painting lines and sticking the nets up. A false economy which will cost to put back to an acceptable standard. Hope we finish on a high with a couple of Ayr style performances. And that dug had pace!

Don't remember Paul Martin doing that, team punching miles above its weight average crowds of 400. It would choke you to say anything good about the current team manager or board. David I agree with everything you had to say regarding our achievements,

Can't have everything. I am sure the kids camp had an impact on the pitch. It appeared very successful. Bucky maybe we should have relayed the pitch after the camp? Reality check required.
