You only pick out the bits you want to and then go back to the personal stuff. Is the pitch a mess? Yes. You don't need to be an expert to see that. In fact the Cowdenbeath manager mentioned it post match. Is he ignorant too? Time to give it a rest and move on. Its about your statement about sacking the groundsman that I have issue with, cowdenbeath have a fantastic pitch.

I watched the video of Cowden v Brechin from last weekend and their pitch looked like a ploughed field ! Ayr uniteds pitch is the same Grant, we have had to much rain this season. Cowdenbeath is the worst by a good mile. I know our pitch is tired it has been for a few seasons now, but to say the grounds man should be sacked is wrong.

Pretty sure everyone knows we could do with a super new pitch - but to blame the poor groundsman is a tad harsh at this time of the season - we've one game to go !
Over 40 kids were playing on the pitch daily in wet weather for two weeks prior to Saturday's match - believe me the pitch looked a hell of alot worse on Friday ! Not alot he can do I'm afraid.
Only way we can get a better pitch is by re laying the grass. The current grass has been down since Bucky was a happy wee boy - or even longer maybe even way back to Tommy Sermanni childhood... (pre black and white tv)
Superb achievement by the players and Management team - looking forward to saying thank you on Saturday night.

There are a lot of pitches both in Scotland and even in the EPL that are in dire need of some TLC but we have to face the fact that we do have a poor playing surface. That is no direspect to the person currently doing a great job in giving us a pitch in the first place. Since Hughie left and no one was put in place to replace him our current situation is probably inevitable. We have had a lot of rain this season but that I feel is not the whole picture. My worry is that we will see more and more home fixtures falling foul of the elements which means a loss of much needed revenue. Perhaps there is a middle ground to be reached somewhere which may provide an answer other than relaying the whole pitch. There are companies out there with expertise in this field.Could we use them and get some advice ? Perhaps the drainage is the real problem and a solution can be sought ? Anyway.Onwards and upwards and on a final point Jimbo is NOT a real fan.I agree

Good Post, Tommy. Good to see this being taken seriously. There is clearly an issue beyond the near side rough patches and that is what I was getting at.
As regards my sacking phrase did it really warrant the name calling and calling into question my fan status, etc? Don't think so. Been here before where criticism of anything is pounced on, hence thought police, pravda, etc.
Let's hope for some improvement next season.

No, I stand by my opinion. If you are paid and aren't up to the job that's what happens. If not being paid then he shouldn't be in a position that perhaps he doesn't have the knowledge for and that is perhaps the responsibility of those in charge. No doubt this will open another can of worms. I will also not be bullied by you or anyone else to capitulate to another viewpoint I don't agree with.

These guys are based in Stirling www.greentechsportsturf.co.uk .Sports Turf specialsits. Surely an idea to get them in to look at the pitch and take some constructive steps making a better surface to play on.

Jimbo as i stated earlier i would think more off you if you said it to Andy himself, instead of coming on the forum and doing it behind his back.

So no criticism alllowed on the message board of anyone then as its not to their face. So according to that that we can't criticise a player of any team, manager, referee, linesman as its not to their face. Ludicrous.

Sack a member of the clubs staff because you don't think he is up to the job. What gives you the right to spout that rubbish in public. I take it you wont be telling the grounds man how you feel about his poor work at the game this weekend Jimbo?

Fact is pitch is in terrible condition, and more games have been called off at times when they should have went ahead.Fact also is that we don't have the right equipment to make it better, and that is damming. As Jimbo has rightly stated, the forum is all about opinions, and no comment made should be judged otherwise.Debates are there to garner the general feeling of all things Rovers. We are quick to praise the rovers when things go well, so criticism should be noted in the same light - nothing personal in having your say
