Clyde have signed David Mitchell from Raith in place of Currie. It is a strange one with Currie that's football though Is that the mitchell that was at the rovers? No Stranraer. He was in goals for them when Rovers beat them in the play offs. What a day.

Have we signed a keeper yet? Not yet . Don't know if young Potts is signed. Definitely need a commanding keeper. We have time on our side and we are a good way ahead than we were this time last year without getting complacent about it. I think it was July last year before we starting announcing signings from the Abercorn League 2.

Night and day from last year at this time. Would the Clyde keeper do a job for us? I'm also looking forward to the "new new" signings. It's good the bulk of the players have signed again but interesting to see some new ones.

Most players will be jetting off for their holidays and want to weigh up their options. I would imagine Rovers will not be able to compete wage wise with the Edinburgh's, Cove's ans Stenny's of this world. That's where Kevin's power of persuasion will come in as he sets out his ambitions.

Cove were in the Highland League and apparently some of the oil money in the Aberdeen area has found its way to them.

How does cove have money, there been in the low land league for years, there just like rovers with the income of money. Cove Rangers FC will be in a financial league of their own in Division 2, as I understand they have a player budget of £260,000 for next season. That is likely to be more than double all of the other clubs in the division, and probably more than the largest budgets in Division 1 as well. That will allow them to keep their best players and also attract the best players from the top clubs in the Highland League, Formartine, Inverurie, Fraserburgh, as well as Peterhead, Montrose, Brechin, Arbroath and Forfar, who are all within about 50 miles or so from Aberdeen. They could also benefit from loan players from Aberdeen FC. I understand that they have a very successful hospitality set up, with dozens taking match day hospitality at every home game. They also have 2 dinner events per season, held at the 5 star Marcliffe Hotel and Spa. The hotel dining has a seating capacity of 400, which appear to sell out at £100 to £120 + VAT each. So they take almost £100k less expenses for these 2 events alone. They attract the likes of Ruud Gullit and Tam Cowan for the recent April event and Harry Redknapp and John Gaghan for the upcoming December event. By contrast, the Rovers Annual Dinner has about 200 at £30/35 per head, less expenses, which emphasises the gulf. One of their main sponsors is the Apache Corporation, which is a multi billion pound company. Needless to say, they don't deal in small numbers. See the link attached www.apachecorp.com/Contact_us/Regions/UK_North_Sea.aspx As Cove Rangers are based in the heart of the North Sea oil and gas industry, they obviously live in a different world to us and if they get it right on the park will inevitably be the next Ross County or Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Will be very interesting to see IF they do get it right. Bear in mind that Paul Martin got us promoted with a budget of £50k, which was less than half of the other clubs at that time, so it is not all about money. Robert Watt

Very true Robert. Interesting to note that our highest paid player ever during McVeigh's reign. Paul McManus plays for Cove Rangers.

Interesting stuff Robert and confirmation if ever it was needed that Paul Martin was the greatest Rovers manager in the modern era.
