Can only add to what has been said, another battling and credible performance from us today. Was a penalty-our guy had hands all over him I'm afraid.A good marker laid down today for the season ahead against a team tipped to be going for the title.

I think the pen was 50/50 but they always seem to go to the attacking team.... unless that’s us.
Thought Fozzy’s was a stonewaller not long after that when he burst past 2 got a shove in the back from 1 and clipped by the other.

Great performance against a clever as well as talented opposition. We were denied a stonewall penalty as there was a shove in the back on our man - the ref was probably looking at the size of the ball at that time ! - to those of us there today the farcical size of the ball pantomime that the ref seemed to milk was the beginning of his inept handling of the game. Despite his best efforts we showed the grit required to get the job done - good platform for the season ahead !

By way of comparison I was at the EC v Rovers first game of the league season last year where we were horsed 4-0. Today was night and day compared to that omnishambles. The main danger we faced today was from that utter @rsehole of a referee. But I'll come back to that.
2 decent goals - the first in particular where EC's fancy passing came unstuck a bit. East still had it all to do when he rounded the keeper and took a few more touches before finishing well. The second was a great move and decent header. Blair Henderson must wish he could play us every week. I didn't see their penalty incident so can't really comment but agree we were denied something similar only moments later.
Keeper Smith had 2 great saves in the first half and another in the second. He might have been my man of the match.
Only slight criticism/observation from me is that we lack composure on the ball all over the pitch and in the vast majority of occasions. I'm all for clearing our lines - which we do okay-ish, although not that great in the first half especially. But when we do have a bit of time there isn't anyone looking for a pass; they're all just looking to get the ball away/forward/out the road. Maybe it was just the conditions today that necessitated that - no idea.
EC play nice stuff, quite pretty to watch their wee triangle passes and they look a good side. We matched them for long spells, although we did sit back a bit after the first goal. On another day they might have nicked a draw and on the balance of play I wouldn't have argued too much with that. But playing against EK, plus the ref plus the stand side lino too was a hell of an ask. Overall we took our chances and deserved the win.
As for the referee..... he lost the plot. Not sure if he reacted to the crowd giving him pelters or not but even by the terrible standards in Scotland he was dire. Very biased towards EC too. I know every supporter thinks the ref is out to get their team but by and large on here I think I'm pretty balanced in the cr@p I write. The ref was a disgrace and I hope we never see him again.
Crowd was only 157, or 177 or whatever Mossie says next. It was poor anyway. Adding insult to injury it was an EC supporter who won the 50:50 draw. Somebody Henderson. Amongst a handful of visiting fans. L1 will be delighted to see them if they are promoted. A bit like EK, a club with no real soul or provenance. Anyway, I'm guessing it's Blair's Faither who won the 50:50.
Nice to be able to watch a game without peering through the cracks in my fingers. Long may it continue.

Superb performance;we have a team of battlers, and that was seen all afternoon.Super defending; and Rovers' goals were great.
However, I am sick and tired of the crowd figures. It has become a not very funny joke. There were quite clearly far more than 177 there today. Can the club please just count everyone? It makes us look bad and it makes me absolutely furious.

Most of us see refereeing performances as unfair to our own lot on occasion, however this lad today was a commplete disgrace. A great battling display for us despite that. Wouldn't argue with sponsor's choice for MoM, though there were a few candidates: the young keeper with at least three crucial saves would have been my pick.
The final table tells a positive story: second in a strongish group despite one severe skelping, with two shutouts which should probably have been three. Putting a few in at the other end would make us safe at least and perhaps even contenders.

The crowd was low today and was less than 200. The club have announced initiatives on this and it hasn't came to fruition as yet. Can't blame the guys on the park as they have been doing it since March and looking good for this season based on the games so far.

thought the ref was going to give them a goal at the end ! jeso what a difference a year makes. Give Kevin the Freedom of Coatbridge. We were superb, battled for every ball and scored a couple of great goals. Back 4 were superb again. I'm sure Edinburgh are paying half their team what we are paying the whole reserve squad and first team... Finally well done Chris Smith. Absolutely brilliant. What a keeper, should be our no.1 until schools starts back

Good afternoons work and unlike last year we can go into the season with some confidence that we will at the very least turn up on a Saturday with some hope we might take some points and compete. Good work by the board and KH getting players in early. Team look well organised but agree with an earlier comment, not a lot of composure in the ball. Young keeper looks great and for me keeps his place until further notice. All players look up for a battle and show full commitment, again superb. Referee was a shambles today, and not even referring to the penalty. An absolute joke of an official. Looking forward to next week.

Think that is a great result against a team that is supposed to be a favourite for our league. To finish where we did in our group should give great confidence amongst our group of players for the league campaign ahead.
It would seem that the bookies, aswell as most opposition fans, have us as finishing bottom, but I just can't see it. Personally I can't see it & I can't see why we are not capable to challenge for a play-off spot. Please pin the current bookies odds up in the dressing room for some extra motivation.

Great stuff . Most impressed that we absolutely work our socks off when we don't have the ball - which is partly due to they way we got our goals yesterday. Fagan and Clarke look to me as if they have improved since the end of last season and I have no complaints about the new players brought in. Woods did well in goals - sorry Potts fans but he is better than young Daniel. Even they way he carries himself he looks far more confident.

Colin has the goals and the penalty incident on his Twitter. pen is basically their guy running at our defender wrapping his arms round him and both of them falling to the ground ! Foul to us firstly ...thankfully means hew haw.
