At tonight's Supporters' Trust AGM we were introduced to the new club chairman or chairperson I probably should say. It's none other than our own Mild Rover - Mr Ronnie Boyd.
He was the trust rep on the board and shall be replaced in that role subject to the necessary approvals etc.

Tumbleweed.....
Ok, I will be first to put my thoughts on it.
I’m sure I will get shot down, hung drawn and quartered for MY OPINION but I am not impressed with this appointment. NOTHING PERSONAL AGAINST the clubs new chairman but I would like to have seen someone from out with the club coming in with new ideas and a bit of money to help the club financially to push on (well unless Ronnie is secretly sitting on a gold mine and going to invest it in the club???).
As the man of the fans representative on the board, on match days I very rarely seen our new chairman integrate with the everyday supporter once that place on the board was sealed. I’m sure he was also a regular traveller on our supporters buses toughing it out on the Prof's gas wagons, I’m sure that stopped. So as chairman, please don’t forget about the people that matter most, THE FANS. Listen to all opinions (good + bad) and make sure there is healthy communication with us fans and not just those on the trust. Don’t try and butter things up, if it’s bad tell its bad and the same if its good. We need to have a more understanding of what’s going on and only you as the chairman can get the bond/relationship between chairman/club + fan strong. If there is a new trust member going on the board, read my comments and take them on board as I think that way we could have a solid united set up.
Oh and to finish up, just to reiterate this is nothing personal against anyone. It is simply my feelings/thoughts on it all.
GUNS AT THE READY!!

Just in from voting to Leave the EU. As a veteran of the Chairman Tom Fagin era, I can say that the difference between then and now in regards to club/supporter relationships is night and day. Very wary of the outside 'sugar daddy' idea, I would say have people who have the Rovers at heart on the board, and Ronnie is certainly in that category. His career details give him great experience of budgetary issues, so sensible, experienced hand on the tiller. Great appointment in my opinion.

Paul - it's your opinion and you are entitled to it - but to say that Ronnie is "remote" from the fans is simply not true. I'm sure I talked to Ronnie at almost every match last season.

Sam - i have made comment regarding this on other threads. I think its great that our spokes person on the board has touched contact with you at every game. I have a question on the back of that... Are you a friend or on the trust? I know your boy is on the board too, so would be expecting him to have contact with you.
My comments are regarding touching base with your every day fan, the fans who arent on the trust or arent a friend. There are many people who go to Rovers and have no contact with anyone and nobody tries to break that. In my opinion thats where our spokesperson should be getting out there, talking and listening to everyone and not the selected few. That is the only way we unite and get the best for the club.
I will speak of my own experience of our spokesperson, unless I have been with Jordan/Chris etc then he hasnt spoken with me other than a hello in passing. I understand people might not like my views or they can be deemed a bit much but does that mean my views/opinions dont matter/irrelevant or mean less than others? For the future of our club, where possible every opinion/thought needs to be heard and used to help keep the club going in the right direction.

All the best to Ronnie in his new role. Always found him a decent bloke and had many a chat on the bus. Mind and keep the biscuit tin well hidden!

Good luck to Ronnie.Seems a really good appointment to me. As he says himself we have had 6 Chairmen in the last 5 years and we need a period of stability at the top.
We have a real Rovers man at the helm which hasn't really been the case since Frank stepped down. All good stuff.

Having spoke to Ronnie he seems a decent man with the best intrests of the club at heart. I hope Pat and Stevie are still involved they done a lot of good things at the club?
