I’m not doubting that for a minute Terry as it’s all been documented in the past . The reality is Rovers were overspending so much on wages they couldn’t budget for one offs. Directors putting their own money in isn’t a new thing at Rovers. Robert Watt put in £69k for unpaid NI contributions as the club faced closure from Inland Revenue. As I understand Robert got that paid back as it was registered in the accounts as a loan. Anyway it’s all old ground that’s been covered before. Robert may have been paid back but the chairman wasn’t and I think that is part of the issue I have, not that he didn’t get his money - it was his choice. You may be right that the money spent on wages was too high, that’s your opinion but I look at the decisions made by all the boards and chairman in the time I have followed the club and ask if they were correct. The huge sums of money paid in legal fees to try and fight a legal case against a former director, higher wage bills paid out to try and ensure the club would not be the first to fall into the lowland league, the appointment of John Brogan (people will discuss his managerial performance but for what it’s worth he was a lovely man who wanted to do well) but I believe was they were all made with the best interest of the club at heart. As you say, old ground lets move on.

Terry Is it true he gifted the money for the new terracing and car park? I know he paid a few paye bills as well. The fireproofing at Motherwell same type of stand cost £180k

I think I answered it at the beginning of this he as the best manager and player in the league was worth the £250 as player and £200 as manager. I base it on perspective of that season £5000 to sign gemmell and £1500 signing on fee £250 a week wages plus all other things to be sorted for him, never kicked a ball of any great note, Darren was worth it. I never heard of Moreno is he family of the famous former Chelsea manager Bucky? With respect John you are completely avoiding my question. The question wasn’t Darren worth the money or not but was the rate of spending sustainable for the club. I can only assume by your avoidance that you agree it wasn’t sustainable. As mentioned in are earlier post in Darren’s last season a cup draw against Celtic would normally set the club up for the next 2-3 seasons. It merely bought the club time . Why? Because thet were haemorrhaging money left right and centre. At the end of that season it was left to Ronnie to breach the prickly subject about cutting the playing budget and cutting the manager’s contract. If I recall correctly Darren’s biggest gripe was he was notified by letter that his contract would not be renewed. Oh diddums. If you are asking Rovers fans to judge his success. At one end some would say he needed another manager to build the squad and he needed a highly paid assistant to baby sit him though the hard times with a huge playing budget. At the other end there’s you who thinks he did a brilliant job. I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. I’m sure since Rovers he has grown as he has had to make do at EF without an overpaid assistant to baby sit him. Good luck to the guy

The fireproofing at Motherwell same type of stand cost £180k The chairman at the time covered all materials and labour costs for fireproofing the voids and the small terrace and car park.

What bit are not getting Bucky I said he was worth it if it’s a case of the club sustaining his wage? I think it would have made more sense to release some of the deadwood at the club at the time. It’s not Young’s fault that your board didn’t have any money, and regarding administrators being ready to pull the plug stop being so dramatic that was never the case they didn’t have any debt just no overdraft or cash flow or no businessmen on the board to run the place. In my opinion you didn’t like him winning the league, or being the most successful manager in your history, the guy proved you and others wrong boohoo. He is second in the league in div 1 with Tony mcminn the famous coach. Point being the guys had success every club he’s been at. Off course he was annoyed getting released by Ronnie by letter very cowardly not telling the man to his face, but the guy has shown Boyd how wrong he was. I read you stating in a recent thread ( don’t worry jimbo we have a hammering from Airdrie to come) you a rovers diehard as you claim. Keep in touch with yourself Bucky

Keep in touch with yourself Bucky Sorry John your opening sentence makes zero sense. The fact is in the run up to the end of that season it was clear Rovers couldn’t sustain the players and managers wages- strange that isn’t after playing Celtic in the cup. Dazza was offered a reduced contract - he refused. That’s football. He was successful at Rovers but at a huge cost which has had a knock on effect to this day. That wasn’t his fault which I have clearly stated- point in the direction where I said it was. Also point me to the post where I “claim” to be a diehard? As I said previously good luck to the guy, I have a lot of time for Tony McMinn - did the power of work for Rovers in the community. You being Dazza’s bestie obviously think he’s tremendous. It’s all aboit opinions. Personally I thought Paul Martin was a better manager got Rovers promoted and kept them up on a shoestring budget- did the hard way building a team from scratch over 3 years without the aid of a huge war chest. Could relate to the fans as well- Dazza couldn’t handle the slightest bit of criticism..... it seems to have rubbed off on you.

Who you calling an arse big mouth? You, You are acting like a child your mate won the league yes and will be remembered for it but you need to realise wasnt popular in the dressing room or the terraces, If paul martin had close to youngs budget he would have won the league by a bigger margin, he was a better man manager, better eye for a player, better liked
