Just returned from AGM. Well run, great debate and great optimism for the future. Hats off to the chairman and board, recent directors, Trust, Squad Fund, volunteers and everyone mentioned.
Proud to be a Rovers fan and shareholder.
Great turnout for a Friday too.
Peter

If anyone can put on a more balanced view on what actually happened at the AGM I'd really appreciate it.

Instead of slagging Peter off why didn't you attend to find out for yourself? That's his opinion, which as everyone says he's entitled to. Keep the faith Peter.

Maybe Paulrovers is not a shareholder and is not entitled to attend...also a Friday night isn`t a good night for everybody...me for one and tommysermanni another - he`s a shareholder too. Can`t recall an AGM ever being held on a Friday evening before

Off the cuff summary:
Very well attended with a large chunk of new shareholders/ supporters who had recently acquired shares, although notable absences from some key shareholders.
Joe McL said the squad was a lot better than a year ago, but inconsistency and injuries have hampered us; we should be higher in the table but team morale was excellent. Potential to bring in 1 or 2 players before end of Feb if they are suitable and don't want crazy money.
Chairman said finances had improved the last year, debt reduced and Shawbrook Loan paid off. Player budget had increased from last season. Club is more stable. Praise for sponsors and the Supporters' Trust for the finance they bring to the club, but even a relatively small increase of people thru the gate could make a big difference.
Question about possibility getting local businessmen on the BoD; response (from Mark Hunter) was: always open to new business acumen but need to ensure they are suitable for the club as difficult to remove them if they turn out to be maverick; was then suggested (by me) that this is exactly what had happened in the recent past (MH agreed).
A couple of questions asked about items in the accounts, but nothing significant.
Agreement that social media profile could be improved for a very modest additional financial outlay.
Proposal (by me) that a show of hands should be taken on whether, in principle, they would like new shares to be issued by the club - emphasised would just be an indicative vote to test the mood of those in attendance and would not commit anyone to anything. Nevertheless, this seemed to spook some people and others suggested not having any such vote, but outcome was the BoD committed to look carefully at the issue and come back with suggestions/proposals.
But overall a very positive meeting.

That's his opinion, which as everyone says he's entitled to. Keep the faith Peter. I don’t think I slagged him off. He’s put all this up yet told us nothing about what has caused such an emphatic feeling or post. Also, I am not a shareholder so I wouldn’t be able to attend otherwise I would attend such events.

others have summarised the meeting well already. A few observations from me:
over 40 shareholders there for second year running. Great to see influx of shareholders taking opportunity to have a say in their club
atmosphere completely different than years gone by: enquiring in a respectful manner. Not adversarial as in the past
profit posted for third year in a row
support given by volunteers in many different ways praised by chairman: match days/ Thursday Club /social media/ Supporters Trust etc
Support from sponsors such as K and T Plant, Reigart and Compliance Path valued by the club
Discussion round an additional role for shareholders in addition to their duty to hold directors to account should also play a supportive role in using their many talents to support directors in a variety of ways. This would be welcome by directors
A few shareholders expressed view that the club should be community/owned and a further share issue should be investigated to extend the number of people with a stake in the club and to bring much needed income into the club. The board to look into this and call a special meeting of shareholders to discuss the issue in depth
