Totally agree. Plot has been lost. Is it though, when players are starting to come down with the virus or feel they may have it and maybe can't get a test. Whole squads may soon have to self-isolate and fulfilling fixtures would be impossible. News tonight an Inverness and a Stenhousemuir player are unwell. For me, yes.

Some of the comments on here beggar belief. People must be living under a rock ffs.

Who is living under a rock? Not me. Our own government stated that cancelling events will have no impact on the spread of the virus. It is merely to take pressure of the police and ambulance staff. As most gatherings and events use in-house or private security rather than the emergency services the arguement is not sustainable. Individual events should be judged on the circumstances not a carte blanche ban. That is why I say there is a mass overreaction to this. If we can go to work, school, etc we can make our own minds about attending events. We are not being allowed to.

jimbo - you manage to both get the point and then miss it in quite spectacular style; all in the one post. Quite an achievement tbf. Read the reports, follow the science and understand what has been learned from this outbreak so far. It's the correct reaction; arguably a few days too late. The one thing it is not is an over reaction.
This isn't just a variant of the common cold or flu bug. It's a bit bigger and scarier. And it needs treated with proper respect. Football is postponed across Europe, marathons are being rescheduled across the world, F1 has bumped the first race of the season, England cricket tour to Sri Lanka is off, ATP tennis postponed for six weeks, Athletics bumped, Boxing bumped for two months......................... They're not all wrong they're taking preventative measures based on the information available.

Need to agree to disagree I think. I'm not missing the point just seeing from a different perspective. Doesn't really matter now anyway as we are where are. Let's hope the club survives it.

Falkirk with a confirmed case of one of their players.

I think the fact we’re starting to see confirmed and suspected cases in Scottish football has justified their decision to suspend the season. What team’s going to want to play against Falkirk knowing that more of their players may be infected but not yet showing the symptoms? The alternative is to allow all “uninfected” teams to play, with the big games behind closed doors. It allows the season to continue but there will still be a lot of games left to be played, and promotion/ relegation across some of the divisions still may not be decided.

And it will continue to spread no matter what the authorities do. It's s virus. That's what they do. You throw into that the stupid people. How many people have you passed this week sneezing and coughing without using a tissue. A daily occurrence unfortunately. And then you have the panic buying that means you can't get the very things you are told you need. You just have to get on with your life. You can't wrap a country in cotton wool. My point about events being cancelled was based not on hiding under a rock but on what our own first minister said. Cancelling events won't stop it spreading. It was for other reasons and I personally didn't think the arguement stood up to scrutiny. Nothing more. Do we all just blindly accept whatever we are told and become sheep or do we consider things and make up our own mind. I choose the latter. Today everything has been cancelled. Will you just stay at home so it it doesn't spread? Or will you go to the pub, shopping, the cinema or whatever and risk getting it. You will get on with your lives I would imagine, as you should. What's left of them. And what happens if there is another virus next winter... And so it goes on.

We need fit young men for football matches to take place. If squads are depleted or a full squad is in isolation, football can't continue. Maybe today's Rovers game could have taken place, but the spread of this would make a complete shut down inevitable in the next few days anyway so they've decided to just make it across the board.

The issue for me isn’t the players or coaching staff but the volunteers at all of the lower league clubs.
Who’s going to be brave enough to tell Mary, Andy, Gordon Lind or Bill Walker they should stay away??? Not me lol
Then who is going to carry out the work they do? We’d need a team of 10 or 15 to replace them.
So while I’m gutted I hate Saturdays without football, I know it’s the right decision for people I care about.

Great point jaydee! Probably the most sensible thing I've heard in all this. Including my own posts! 👍

Yet all of daily life goes on, Asda full of people, busy pubs tonight and the school I work at is open as usual on Monday. Unless no-one leaves their houses, none of this makes any sense. Irony: my school rugby match was cancelled this morning; the same pupils will be crammed into classes on Monday.

Missing the football already (even though we’re usually 1-0 down by now)
