Great initiative, Jordie.
While we’re on the subject of donating cash to ARFC, I would like to thank everybody who has donated money to the Albion Rovers Squad Fund over the years - those who donate by monthly standing order, the Albion Rovers Supporters Trust (£5350 donated in total so far), and those who have made lump sum donations.
As of today, the Squad Fund has donated the grand total of £27970 to ARFC since it’s launch in November 2012. This injection of cash has played a vital role in helping successive Rovers managers to strengthen their squads , as well as helping the club to pay player wages in difficult times. As recently as 18 February, just before the full gravity of the Covid-19 pandemic became apparent, we donated a lump sum of £1800 and we will continue to donate £200 every month , plus the occasional lump sum when there’s enough money in the coffers.
I’m keenly aware that some fans who donate their hard-earned cash may face difficult and uncertain financial times in the weeks to come. So please accept my heartfelt thanks for what you have donated in the past, and what you will hopefully donate in the future.
Mon the Rovers!
Cheers Bill Walker, ARSF Treasurer

Great idea and a very timely help to the club Jordan. A big thanks to you for getting this off the ground from your fellow Rovers fans. I was talking to a few of the club's directors today and they were keen to emphasise your idea has their full backing and they were also keen to pass on their thanks for what you are doing to keep our great wee club going.
Also the work of Bill Walker in running the squad fund more for 8 years and raising such an amazing amount of money in that time deserves to be acknowledged.
Ronnie

It really is fantastic, especially at such a worrying time for lots of people.
As I’m fully self employed, my income has dropped to zero this week, so I’ve spent the last couple of days applying for temporary positions with supermarkets and courier companies. Friends have rallied round and put me forward for positions or put a word in on my behalf, which is fantastic, so will hopefully have something in place early next week.
I hope everyone stays healthy, both physically and just as importantly mentally throughout this period of uncertainty.
I’ve certainly been pleasantly surprised with the community spirit in my own area, Cumbernauld and it looks like it’s the same in Coatbridge.
Take care everyone. ❤️

Good luck Jaydee. The government announcement was good for those employed with their jobs being under threat but not satisfactory for those self employed or in the gig economy, can’t see how you can pay bills especially rent on Universal Credit.

Exactly, and no one seems to be asking the question. Everyone last night saying about what a great job the government are doing providing 80% of salaries for employees meanwhile self employed can get upto £94 a week. How can that be right??
