The board of directors at Albion Rovers FC are delighted to confirm the appointment of Brian Reid as the new 1st Team Manager.
The former Ayr United and Stranraer boss takes charge on a permanent basis following the departure of Kevin Harper from the role in May.
Brian enjoyed a long playing career including notable spells with Morton and Queen of the South, before taking up the manager job at Ayr United in 2007, where he spent four and a half years. Brian then went on to manage in the Philippines for a year before returning to the United Kingdom where he managed Nuneaton Town before taking up the reigns at Stranraer between 2015 and 2017.
Further details of the appointment including Brian’s back room staff and his plans for the future will follow shortly, please keep an eye out on our website and social media platforms where you will be able to hear an exclusive interview from Brian about his ambitions for the club and next steps.
The board would also like to place on record their thanks to Joe McLaughlin who has been managing player engagement since Kevin’s departure.

I've just read that he used to play for my other team. I'm loving this appointment.

First thing for me is to add the further welcome and best wishes to Brian.
Good to see a manager with a bit of league management experience coming in. Interview sounded balanced and he comes across as a reasonable guy.
What a difficult time to be taken over the helm at a new club! The priorities for me are to get a couple of the squad from last year to sign on again and for him to get jaydee signed up. It’s always good to have a little continuity from back room staff.
At present I think the assistant manager can wait a little longer until we know what’s happening with the return to football.

Echo all that has been said to welcome the new manager. We need to plot a sensible signing path in the tricky months ahead. A close season that we have never witnessed before needs careful planning , that I am sure we will all embrace going forward.
