It was 11 years ago today that former Rovers player Gordon aka Guido was killed in a tragic accident at the age of 26.
He won player of the year award in 2006/07 and moved to Partick Thistle where it didn’t work out and a loan to Stenny was arranged. He then went to Dumbarton who were managed by Jim Chapman and was made captain. Gordon lead them to the league title just before his accident.
A benefit match was played at Dumbarton and attended by several Rovers fans and his partner and infant son as well as the rest of his family.
Gordon was a very nice chap to speak to and a talented player. The late Bobby Robson was apparently impressed when he took in a Berwick v Rovers match.
The word tragedy is over used but was certainly appropriate in this case.

Played with a smile on his face. Sadly missed.
