Great news to share with you all. We have had a £10000 bid for COVID funding accepted and paid out by the SPFL Trust.
The plan is to maintain and build community around all things Albion Rovers.
To start off, we have paid for 40 junior season tickets so under 16s can have free football for coming season. They still need to get ticket from ARFC under usual under 16 conditions.
We are the new sponsors of the season books, 50-50 draw and fixture cards. Our new logo will feature on each and allow us to support local charities too.
Together these 2 things put £2000 into club coffers.
The rest of the grant is to be spent by us on upgrading community facilities.
Hopefully, the area behind the Coatbridge goals can be turned into a useful training / warm up area for walking football, disability football and kids camps. The area has been cleared this week and we’ll see what quotes for drainage, seeding grassing and lining amount to. Ronnie and Mark A are overseeing this. Watch this ‘space’
The hall of fame is under way in the Gordon Dishington lounge. The new lighting is in hand and framed photos underway. Thanks to Donnie, Iain, Buchanan and Stephen for this.
The next plan is the portacabin. It needs cleared of lots of stuff to be stored elsewhere. The work also includes electrics upgrade, new flooring, windows fixed, and the non club shop counter removed, decorated and furniture sourced etc. A ramp for disabled access is also planned . It will be a worthwhile spend. It will be the club shop on match days and available for lots of community events in between.
Lorraine, Andy M, Donnie, Gordon and Ronnie are on this.
And of course, Bill Walker pays all the invoices!
We shared our plan with the Club before we submitted our bid and we are on the same page. We
are
so fortunate to have good relationships between ARFC and the Community Trust.
We hope to keep on track with Lorraine and I meeting BoD regularly so we can work in harmony and keep to grant ‘rules’ set by SPFL Trust.
Any ideas, suggestions, offers of help gratefully accepted.
