I try to live in the real world at the best of times and especially with regards to the Rovers: as they say it's the hope that kills you. But just this once my 3 wishes would be : - a 3G pitch - a couple of brand new portacabins to be used for changing rooms/ hospitality/community events etc - enough money for a wage for a full time groundsperson/ stadium maintenance Not in the realms of Messi( could he do it on a cold November's night in Elgin anyway?) but what a difference they would make. These 3 would be a great benefit not only to the football club but to the community of Coatbridge as a whole. If only..... Ronnie I like these, although would wish one not do away with the need for wish 3? 🤔 Unless you mean (as I do) Wish 1- 3or4G pitches behind each goal for letting out. Wish 2 Portacabins as above but maybe a small gym which could be used for rehab and also possibly (these are wishes after all) for membership? Wish 3 Full time groundsperson as above.

Between us Jaydee I think we have got realistic wishes covered for improving things for the club and community if ever a wealthy well wisher came along.
I am not an expert in the field of groundsmanship ( pun intended) but I have heard it said that looking after a 3g pitch takes as much looking after as a grass one.

I don’t doubt you, but i struggle to see how. Sweeping it occasionally with a tractor with brushes I would have thought lol.

Plastic pitches, naw. 2 and 3 are good though. Love watching football on grass Nanook and was seldom happier than when trying to play football many years ago on a grass park but this is wider than personal preferences it really is about the survival of the club. Not only would an artificial pitch help us to develop the club as a community hub but would bring in much needed revenue. Several times in the last few years we were asked by clubs to groundshare with us but had to say no .The cost of training at other facilities places a significant financial strain on the club also. On a regular basis we are asked by youth teams etc to hire the pitch and we have to sadly refuse. Other clubs at our level, Stenhousemuir for example, have a huge advantage over us financially as they make far more from hiring out their facilities than they do from match day income. So Nanook, I stand by first wish if we ever come across someone with a money tree in their garden! Ronnie

I get all the points made above, all valid, all sensible, but my concern is that what is played on plastic pitches is not football, it looks like football but it is not. Players have to adjust their running style, bounce of the ball is variable, and there are new injuries to pick up on plastic pitches.
Astonished that the top level - SPFL, Uefa - allow plastic pitches to be used for top level matches.
At the Coatbridge end, is there enough space to put in a plastic pitch?

A very good idea. Not a full size one but a small artificial pitch could go there , possibly for use for training, warm ups, kids clubs, disability football etc. Approx £60k for that. Ronnie
