Watched Argentina whack Scotland 3-1 at Hampden, Maradonna scored the third.
We thought we had a reasonable side at the time, but Scotland were blown away. The Scottish crowd were chanting "Argentina, Argentina..." by the end. Not sure how many times Scotland supporters chanting for the opposition has happened.
Maradonna was 18 at the time. He looked good in the match above, he was a star among stars.
Some great stuff for his country and various clubs, and he did score a wonderful goal against our English brothers, and I mean the second goal in that match.
Think Pele was the greatest, but Maradonna came awfy close.

A great player and one of football's characters. The archetypal flawed genius. RIP.

Always a bit miffed he never signed for us, leaving the eternal question of could he do it on a wet Tuesday in Cowdenbeath unanswered. Seriously a brilliant player who didn’t forget his roots.

An unbelievable talent, who dragged a country to the World Cup and Napoli to the Serie A title (twice) and a Coppa Italia almost singlehandedly.
First shirt with a name on the back I owned was a 1986 Argentina top with Maradona on the back. I was the envy of all my schoolmates haha.
Have to disagree with Nanook as good as Pele was, it’s Maradona for me.... just.

Ronnie I always think Central Park has a bit of a 1980s Italian vibe to it ! The weather not so much. Would highly recommend the documentary "Diego Maradona" that came out last year. I think Ch4 are putting it on their catch up service in the next few days. Some amazing footage of his time in Naples on and off the park.

Maradona the greatest hands down . Agree with JD , single handedly guided Argentina to the World cup victory and Napoli to the Scudetto.
