Following yesterday’s (somewhat unexpected) announcement that all football below Championship level is to be postponed until further notice, does an appetite exist to re-start a JustGiving page in aid of club funds?
The last one was a huge success, but I’m acutely aware that employment situation(s) may have changed since the first lockdown in March 2020. With all steaming also impacted, that revenue of income has been neutered by this abrupt change of rules.
I’m also keen to avoid the notion that we are, once again, ‘begging’ for money to ensure our survival and would like some basic information about how the monies raised last time were used before I go ahead and put the page together.
Thoughts and feelings, please, folks.
Jordan.

Can't vouch for anyone else but having donated to the original fund, bought a full price season ticket, new top and entered the rovers lottery for a year the piggy bank is empty. No harm in trying but those who made this unexpected and unnecessary decision should be compensating the clubs. Celtic have a lot to answer for as I don't think it was a coincidence that it was made on the back of their unpunished behaviour. They should fine them the amount they got from the government and give it to those clubs stopped from playing.

Jimbo,
I think your situation might be mirrored amongst fellow fans. It’s a tough one. Does the lottery provide the club with enough £?
Jordie.

I would certainly be keen and I think we could still raise quite a lot if needed. Good idea indeed.

Oh, and fully agree with Jimbo42's point above. The glamorous Glasgow giants might like to have a think about the rest of the country's clubs for at least ten seconds of their non-holiday sunshine time.

A good idea Jordie as is the idea to canvas what people think prior to starting it again. As others have said people have put money towards season tickets, livestream games, justgiving, 50/50, the lottery, the Christmas hamper draw etc All of these including the just giving page have seen a magnificent effort by supporters. We don’t want to go to same well too often but I wonder if the online 50/50 draw would be worthwhile on days of home games. Gives people a chance to win a prize too I’m sure someone from the club will come on and answer your 2 questions about whether another one is needed and what the last amount was used for.Although I can guess the money has been extremely welcome by the board to meet the 3 main expense headings: wages, stadium upkeep and pitch maintenance. I assume that the club could always use some cash, so go ahead, Jordan, just set the target a bit lower this time.
If folk can afford to give then they can think about how much.

Sorry to be a killjoy here but I think we are in a different place from where we were in lockdown one. I personally think we can support the Rovers through the lotto and helping to promote the lotto. This will be the main income source other than Gov grants, League money share etc. If the directors need help, they can ask shareholders and then ultimately a fund raising venture as a last resort. Oh, and before you jump on the bandwagon here and skate me, I'm trying to secure the future for our places of worship (all faiths) through those in power as the current lockdown will kill off most places of worship!! And if you have any spare cash, give it to Coatbridge Food Bank in Blairgrove Shopping Centre as they do a tremendous job to help people in real need.

I don’t think an appetite for another JustGiving page exists, unfortunately. The lack of responses here and general indifference would seem to back that up.
Disappointed, yet again, that 24 hours have passed and no one from the BOD has logged in to reply to this thread or has reached out via the direct messaging function.
We know the Message Board is read by members of the BOD. Ian, Mark, Colin, Allison, and Eddie - add your voice and let us know how things are at the club. We’ve no way of finding out if communication is non-existent between the fanbase and Board.

Just out of curiousity, Jordie, when you organised the last successful fund raiser, did you get any form of official `thank you` from the Club...letter, e mail, phone call etc....

Although not a man of any faith the decisions regarding worship are an attack on faith and disgraceful. To treat it like some kind of hobby is narrow-minded and petty.

No. That`s absolutely appalling.....don`t know what to say.......but their silence `speaks` volumes about those running the show.
