So a `tweet` is thanks enough for raising £10K...... Maybe is in the modern age. Jordie will be my nomination for the Hall of Fame next time.

For someone that isn’t bothered about being thanked you sure bring it up often enough. Grant, your tweet isn’t enough. What exactly do you want? A big badge. I don’t hear you shouting for Ben the way you shout for Jordie. It was a great idea from Jordie to start the go fund me page but going by his logic he didn’t do anymore than the others that donated to it.

I’m not bothered at all about being thanked, but on reflection think it would have been a nice touch if something official came from the club. I don’t want a big badge, nor any credit. In fact, I wasn’t even particularly keen to have my name bandied about as the creator...because all I did was just that - create the page! Ben deserves credit, too, and certainly committed a lot of time & effort to his fundraising endeavours.

This thread is like something out a school playground. A bit of the old red tie/yellow tie being played here.

[quote author=" rovers" source="/post/25671/thread" The weekly jackpot is advertised almost daily on the clubs twitter. I know it’s advertised on Twitter, but that doesn’t mean that we are selling 14 thousand tickets every week. I just queried if it was making enough that the club benefited from it.

Once lockdown is over it can be advertised in the pubs and shops. But social media is the way to advertise at the moment. A recent post by the club thanking sponsors spoke about the reach of the clubs social media precense. It was into the thousands. Even a small percentage of folk putting a couple pound in adds up!

I know it’s advertised on Twitter, but that doesn’t mean that we are selling 14 thousand tickets every week. I just queried if it was making enough that the club benefited from it. Update on the playing figures for anyone interested. At present we have 98 players and on average we have had 114 lines being played each week over the first 15 draws. The introduction of a second (£50 prize) and a 2nd prize (signed ball) for the two draws during the festive period increased the number of players by 2 and the number of lines by played by 5. Whilst this was only over a two week period you can perhaps draw the conclusion that adding in further chances smaller prizes wouldn’t generate a sufficiently high enough volume of new players/lines to introduce the chances to win smaller prizes on a permanent basis. We will of course to continue to monitor this and if the number of players/lines increase then we will revisit. As per a previous post some of these players have generously purchased a years, 6 months or a quarters worth of tickets in advance. To remind everyone the contractual and legal obligations we need to adhere to are noted below. These should be kept in mind when extrapolating the aforementioned information for analytical purposes. The provider of the lotto (Clubforce) are due 10% of each £1 played. Annually there is a hosting fee payable of £250 for the use of the software/platform. Finally, as per the license granted by North Lanarkshire Council, you must maintain a reserve sufficient to cover the maximum jackpot and secondly 25% of the Wee Rovers Lotto proceeds must be used for the purposes in which the society has been formed. For example contributions towards the squad fund, buddy’s club and supporters buses etc. Whilst we are unable to conduct these activities at the moment due to COVID we do have an obligation to set fund aside for these purposes.

Is the tweet from an official account of ARFC? Yes/No? Agree/Disagree?
Should have been written in blood.

Thanks for the comprehensive update on the lottery new2rovers Greatly appreciated and thanks to all who have worked for ages to get the lottery off the ground. It’s up to everybody to build up the number of players in the coming weeks and months by contacting individuals and getting the leaflets into homes and businesses in the town and beyond. At the moment it’s not a huge amount but anything that increases income is to be welcome. Interesting figures. It tells us a lot about our constituency as a club. 100 people play the lottery, 100 buy season books , 100 people bought online tickets for Christmas hamper. I know they won’t all be the same people but I’m sure a fair few are the same. The challenge is how we grow that pool of loyal backers. Ronnie
