I am researching a potential book(let) for the period above.
I enjoy doing the research, but it is a slow business. There are 38 years, I have 7 years researched to a reasonable standard, so only 31 years to go.
The book(let) will not be ready anytime soon.
One reason for mentioning this is that I keep thinking about a conversation I had in the pub after a Rovers game, it was a while ago, about a Rovers supporter thinking about writing a book. If there is anyone else thinking about writing a book on the Rovers, get in touch. No point in the same work getting done twice over.
This is an absolute long shot. 1920 was Rovers Cup Final appearance. There are adverts in the papers of the time announcing a film of the Cup Final being shown in the local cinemas of the time. Has anyone got an old film reel stuck in the loft that might be this film? Handle with care, and get in touch.
The obvious question is, why not 1882-2021? Well, if 1882-1920 is a bit daunting, then 1882-2021 is just too daunting!

Nanook makes a good point about old cine film.....would likely be in a steel tin...DO NOT OPEN....the film may just fall apart on exposure to air....there are experts out there who can recover such things. As Nanook says - get in touch in first instance

There would have been plenty of films around of Rovers in the 1920s as it was a common tactic of local cinema owners to get folk in if their local team was filmed. Hopefully someone somewhere might have something of a packed Cliftonhill with bunnets everywhere!

Was just thinking after the AGM that the Rovers must be the longest running business in Coatbridge, whether taken from our founding in 1882 or from the limited company being established in 1919. Maybe McLaren’s have been around for a while too.

I’m thinking of writing a book called “The Fagan years- where arethe bodies buried”.
All profits go towards the subsequent lawsuit!!
