League 1 and 2 clubs now given the official okay dokey to return to training- no mention of when games can re-start. Do we have a goalie yet since Goodfellow was given the heave ho?

Various media reports tomorrow clearly indicate that the clubs will vote against restarting before next season. Makes sense to me... Costs of covid tests, added with losing furlough etc. And no gate receipts. Injuries with frequent matches etc. Another daft decision by government that hasn't been discussed with clubs. Let's see what happens but I'm not holding my breath. See you all in August.

Proposed compromise- reduce the league to 22 games and then split the Divisions after 18 games followed by 4 games . Looks as if this maybe a goer.
Does anyone know did the loan signings from Pollok get the go ahead before the close of the transfer window?

Does anyone know did the loan signings from Pollok get the go ahead before the close of the transfer window? I believe all 3 were completed before the window closed and before we were suspended. Will be interesting to see what happens with signings from here in as we were suspended with no idea if/when we would be back before the window and loan window was closed.

From what I understand:
The three Pollok loanees are signed and there are no issues with that. I think they actually managed to get a couple of training nights in with the team as well which is good.
The loan market for lower league clubs has been extended, so we now have until 31 March to bring in loans - although I don't think we can take anyone from a Premiership club, only Championship level or below.

The SPFL Board met today at short notice to consider a number of requests from League 1 and League 2 clubs. The requests were: to approve the recommencement of League matches on 20 March; to revisit the SPFL's concerns about a 22-Match Season including a 'split' after Match round 18; to schedule League 1 and League 2 League matches up to and including 15 May (i.e., two weeks later than planned); and to delay the start date of the Championship/League 1 and League 1/League 2 Play-Off matches from 5th May to 19th May. The SPFL Board approved the recommencement of League 1 and League 2 League Matches on 20 March. However, the Board remains concerned regarding the realistic ability of League 1 and League 2 Clubs to complete a 22-match Season, including the introduction of a new 'split' in each Division. Such a fixture schedule would mean one Club in each half of the 'split' sitting out one round of fixtures post-split, including the final day of the season. It would also severely constrain the flexibility of the SPFL to schedule fixtures in the event of future disruption from Covid-19 and risks part-time clubs being required to play Saturday-Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday. It is also guaranteed that a minimum of one League 1 or 2 club will reach Round 4 of the Scottish Cup, creating further fixturing challenges. However, the SPFL Board respects the right of League 1 and League 2 clubs to determine how many League Matches they wish to play this season. The SPFL Board has therefore asked the League 1 and League 2 representatives to consider how they would wish the Board to deal with any Club unable to complete a 22-match programme in the time available. Only then will the Board be able to consider the requests to push back the dates of the Play-Offs. SPFL Chairman Murdoch MacLennan commented: "We are pleased that League 1 and League 2 clubs have come together to propose a way forward for the resumption of their season. However, it's our duty to underline that the SPFL Board has severe reservations about the practicality of part-time clubs being able to complete a 22-game season, including a 'split', in time to compete in the end of season play-offs. "In the Board's view, an 18-game season would have created far more flexibility but, that said, we respect the right of League 1 and League 2 clubs to determine how many games they will play this season."

18 game season without the split would be my preference. Splits are crap and just fake.

Can someone fill me in, and I apologise if I've missed this elsewhere. If all the teams manage to play each team twice, once at home and once away this completing 18 games, what's the point in another 4 games?

Not sure, but the split may be a way to legitimise a league win or play off positions with some extra competition for the 4th place. Champions having to beat the "better" teams might be a compromise to scrapping it?
Probably usefulfor relegation from league 1 too ... I'd assume QP will be for it in their march to the European super league(!). Otherwise i cant see the split serving any purpose for the Rovers.

Didn't see the 22 game proposal coming. Thought it would be 18 games or leave it for this year. With a 22 game league, Scottish Cup squeezed into 2 months and playoffs it's going to be games galore in an eight week period and with Covid-19 very much still with us. Regarding the split...is that for one season only? And will there be still playoffs at the bottom of League 2 and if yes who are the playoffs against as the Highland and Lowland Leagues are still suspended.

I think 22 games is a half way house between getting a full season played and satisfying those who don’t think a 18 game season can justify promotion and relegation. The SPFL Board have kinda poured cold water on this already on the basis that it would be unrealistic to finish the season if Covid issues affect games proceeding. I think it’s an 18 game season or nothing for them.

This is getting 'very silly' now to say the least. Good grief: can someone, somewhere, just give an indication of what is going on?
