From the Record:
Tributes have been paid to former Falkirk and Middlesbrough goalkeeper Willie Whigham, who passed away aged 81.
Whigham, who was born and raised in Airdrie, but never played for his home town team and only made one appearance for Albion Rovers, was a hero both at Brockville and on Teeside during a lengthy career in the 1960 and 70s.
Not familiar with him and as he only played once for Rovers few others will be. RIP

I do remember him well, from newspaper reports in the early 60's, as a goalkeeper with Falkirk. I think they were often promoted, then relegated, like Stirling Albion but wheerever they were, there were these super saves from Willie Whigham. We moved down to Northumberland and...glory be...here was Willie doing the same thing for 'Boro (Middlesbrough)! So i say too RIP, Willie.

Willie played as a trialist in one game for Rovers in season 1959-60 whilst junior with Shotts Bon Accord.
