The lessons from last year is that legal action is pretty futile with only the lawyers benefitting. Only other thing I will say is Brechin voted with the rest of the league committing themselves to finishing the season. If that means finishing bottom I think they would have to accept that. What a mess. Any ideas when the SPFL will decide this.

I have to agree with them on the play-off tho’ a 12 team league needs more thought. Brechin have been woeful and deserve the chance of relegation but not against opposition who’ve not properly earned the right. It doesn’t half! Are Brechin saying that Kelty and Brora are not good enough to play in a promotion play off but are good enough to be promoted to a new look L2. I love Brechin it’s a great away day but I think they will lose a lot of sympathy if this the logic behind their argument.

I am fully behind Brechin on this one - it is utterly ridiculous to potentially promote a team into the SPFL on the basis of a couple of games. For this unusual season there should have been a logical decision to shelf the pyramid structure and to restart afresh next season when we should be able to have a complete fixture list - hopefully ! Or reconstruct the leagues from the start with last seasons non league winners!!

Play off going ahead. Probably the right decision. Hope Brechin stay up - class away day

I see the pyramid play-offs to go ahead, after SPFL sought advice from a senior judge. Highland winners v Lowland winners . Winners to play team ranked 42nd in SPFL. Goodbye Brechin always enjoyed a wee trip up there.

The SPFL have announced that the pyramid play-off against "team 42" which will be Brechin City barring a miracle will go ahead. Kelty were due to travel to Brora for the first leg of their game tomorrow but this seems uncertain.
Cue a challenge to this by Brechin within SPFL and/or SFA procedures and then possibly a legal challenge too from whoever is on the "wrong end" of the decision.

Ridiculous decision. Good luck Brechin. In court and if not on the pitch. Also see East Fife have been fined £11000 (£10000 suspended) for not playing Clyde when one of their players tested positive 15 mins before kick off the other night. Just where is the common sense and fairness in this discredited football authority? 🖕

Agree with Jimbo42 that this is a poor decision. I’ve always been a supporter of the pyramid system but going ahead this season is wrong due to the circumstances with the Lowland /Highland leagues. Kelty and Brora being declared champions having played 13 and 3 games respectively makes the whole playoff situation invalid this season.

If Brechin win their last 3 matches and Cowdenbeath don't they're safe.
Cracking matches with everything to play for.
Will make Saturday at Cliftonhill and Next Tuesdays match against Cowdenbeath very interesting.
Or boring meaningless matches if Brechin lose tonight at home versus Annan.
Good luck Brechin.

Peter Cowdenbeath only have 2 games left, Brechin have only won 2 games in their last 45 and now need to win 3 in a row

Expanding the league to 12 with another two cash laden clubs in Brora and Kelty . And then further expansion with the Old firm Colts . How many Rovers fans would want that?

Not against expansion but not the colts. Don't know why they didn't just fight it on the fact that it was agreed at the start of the season that there would only be a play off if they had played half a season. Neither leagues have so it shouldn't be happening and that is the simple arguement.

I think Brechin’s problem is they voted with the other clubs to complete the season so I think they have to accept where they are. The offer to appease the HL/LL with league reconstruction tells you a lot about Brechin’s current predicament.

Perhaps but it doesn't change the fact that the rules the Highland and Lowland Leagues agreed to are being broken by having playoffs.
