Well done to the supporters trust for organising an online meeting tomorrow night to discuss the very important question of shares and to dedicate a complete meeting to it. Deserves a good turnout.

Indeed it does. There are a couple of people at the club who are trying to suggest that there is no real interest in this subject amongst supporters, but previous lively chats on this messageboard suggest otherwise - as well as individual conversations I have had with people who would be prepared to invest substantial amounts. A previous poll also suggested a lot of interest. arfc.proboards.com/thread/1184/new-shareholder-interestProRege was someone I rarely agreed with, but in terms of being able to deal with the 'dead' shares in the club, he was on to something.

Yes the meeting is between 6-7.30pm teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_MzQzYTQxZWItN2EwNS00Yjc0LTk4MDktZmIyZjFhNzQ2ZDEy%40thread.v2/0?context=%7b%22Tid%22%3a%2275babd9e-9fbc-4189-94a4-650ea12f4983%22%2c%22Oid%22%3a%22e4ea57f1-1551-4601-892a-164d9af1af0f%22%7dIt is maybe short notice, (might miss it myself with work) but a good chance to open a discussion re. a set position for the Trust to push the club, in terms of shares and ultimately elected fan representation on the board. Before outright fan revolution (!) there are steps which could involve fans owning 1%, 5% -25% (? any numbers) of shares as a common holding and stake, and using any finance raised, to purchase any dormant shares that already exist. This is currently achievable but not yet pursued. This is the principal purpose of a Supporters Trust. The Trust should have an executive board of 6 members , not meeting with less, and this is also a possible area for development. Again some may think this is a distraction, however getting our own structures correct, would in my opinion, be an important first step, to the long term stability of club. This would also give an increased mandate for fans making decisions, as part of the board. David

Hoping to make this but might not be able to.
Think it's a massive issue and would completely support anything the trust does in terms of pushing for more fan owned shares. Any one suggesting this isn't an intrest to fans I'm not sure what planet they are on as it comes up in nearly every conversation you have at Cliftonhill.

Due to work commitments, I too might not make tonight's meeting. But like Sam - and every Rovers fan I know - I regard the share ownership situation as the single biggest issue affecting ARFC's future (or lack of) and I will happily support any initiative aimed at d/w dead shares, increasing fan ownership of shares, and opening the door to responsible investors who want to take ARFC forward and secure the club's SFL future.

I 100% agree with Bill and unfortunately I’m unable to “attend” tonight’s meeting.

Probably 99% of Rovers folk are massively in favour of this move. Go for it!!! I cannot understand why anyone would want to block it or not be in favour of buying up shares. What possible reason could there be? ??

Hope this stimulates the positive progress that the club requires to move forward. The new environment in the football world requires substantial finances in order just to stand still - wise heads need to position themselves in the future not the past !

A subject close to my heart. I would have joined this call had there been more notice. I can't see how the club can ever move forward without addressing this major issue.

The posts on this thread show broad support for doing something about this issue. Not the biggest turnout but a positive meeting with a number of actions agreed to take things forward. Ronnie

I'm very proud to be a Shareholder and I realise this is a long running and emotive issue for a lot of fans.
I have to be honest I missed the post about the Trust Meeting.
Was the low turnout due to people being unable to make it or down to the issue not being the high priority for fans some people think it is ?
We do have fans on the board as seen at the last AGM.
One of the potential dangers of shares becoming available is that they are purchased by people who don't have the best interests of the Club at heart.
How would we make sure that these shares are in safe hands unless they are purchased en masse by the Supporters trust ?

I think the current shareholders actually have first dibs on any shares which become available

I think the current shareholders actually have first dibs on any shares which become available Some interesting points here. Think existing shareholders would have first go at new shares but don’t think that is the case for dead shares. I don’t think low turnout at meeting is an indication of a lack of interest in subject. Some of the comments about would new shareholders have the club’s best interest at heart are interesting. If they put money into the club by buying new shares that would be a positive move. Also, being controversial, I could ask do all current shareholders have the club’s best interest at heart? Ronnie

Was interested but unlikely to be able to afford shares so didn't tune in. It is of interest but not all want to be shareholders. Updates on message board bring enough information for me. As long as certain people have shares though will anything change!
PS: I was cheering on Morton on Alba! Most excellent! 🤭
