Hello All.
Okay, here is my reason for joining your forum.
My dad and myself are both Swansea born and supporters of 73 and 42 years respectively. My dad sadly passed away six weeks ago, but I always remember him telling me that he had a soft spot for Albion Rocers since school days. He always promised himself that one day he would travel to watch them, but sadly never got around to visiting.
So, I am hoping to make the journey in his honour, so any advice or help would be appreciated.
I know quite a bit about Albion as we both look/ed out for your scores every week.
Hope you don’t mind me posting on here chaps?

If your surname is Swansea, that is real commitment.
Covid could make anything I suggest open to change, but here goes. Currently Rovers are allowed 500 maximum folk in Cliftonhill, keep an eye on that issue, if Omicron keeps increasing, closed door might be a possibilty.
We are playing Kelty 22 January, Cowdenbeath 29 January. Kelty are running away with the league, so that might be an interesting match, back to the wall for Rovers, I would suggest. Cowdenbeath are currently bottom, everyone else is trying to avoid last spot as the last placed team has to play off for their league place against the winners of the Highland/Lowland play off.
Kelty are miles ahead, Forfar giving chase with Annan comfortable-ish in third, then everyone else is trying to get away from Cowdenbeath, which makes 4th place and a place in the promotion play offs a possibility, so maybe a match towards the end of the season might be an idea.
Hope this helps.

Welcome Wayne, I am from North Wales and got attached to Albion Rovers when I used to make frequent visits to Scotland when my wife's parents were still alive. Used to get to three or four games a season back then.
Not been up for some years now regrettably but hopefully if and when life returns to normal will make the pilgrimage to Coatbridge.
Hope you enjoy your trip.

Sorry everyone what I am looking for is some advice on travel, accommodation close to ground best match to target etc? Thanks again hi there If you are travelling up from Wales via train you will arrive in Glasgow Central. Quick walk to Glasgow Queen Street will take you out to Coatbridge. Lower Level train line to Edinburgh/Airdrie nearest station to the ground is Coatdyke. Short walk down the hill to the ground - Owens Bar is across from the ground. footballgroundguide.com/leagues/scottish-spl-premier-and-football-league-clubs/scottish-league-two/albion-rovers-cliftonhill-stadium.htmlPlane to Glasgow - Bus to Glasgow city Centre. see above. Or Taxi to Coatbridge. If you fancy staying in Coatbridge, X Rovers player Brendan Crozier Manages and runs the Georgian Hotel and this is very accessible to the above train line, Blairhill Train station is 10 mins walk away from the hotel - 3 stops from Coatdyke. www.georgianhotel.co.uk/. https://www.facebook.com/TheGeorgianHotel/Or If you fancy a hotel nearer literally on the same street - Mondo Hotel and Restaurant. www.facebook.com/mondocoatbridgeSt Andrews bar, Sunnyside Road is a great pub for before and after. Also Owens Bar across from the Ground. Covid = you will need to book in advance Hope you can make a game. My son's X team mate (who stays up here) is a massive Swans fan, he's been a Swans mascot too many times to mention, before all of the travel restrictions they attended loads of Swans home and away games. His dad is Wayne Swansea also cheers Tee

If you fancy a trip up to Rovers later in the season, then let me know, see if we can arrange something

Hi thanks for your reply!
Great story and am intrigued as to who this swans mad person is? And I’m guessing his fathers name isn’t really Swansea Wayne though?😄
Would like to keep in touch and maybe organise a visit in future?
Wayne ( from) Swansea

Rovers fan from south of the border here, Surrey to be precise. Married a Coatbridge girl. Haven’t been to a game at the Coatbridge San Siro for a while but last time was identified as a scout from Arsenal Hope to get back when the craziness is over..
