A different view pf Kyle's goal - not as good picture quality but it's ok.

Quote "To our loyal fans who have witnessed this behaviour over the past two games please accept our apologies...." end quote.

I agree that they should have mentioned visiting fans - Tuesday night for me really showed up that the folks that run EC are out of their depth with this sort of thing. As soon as the young lads started throwing stuff at the Stewards during half-time they should have been ejected. Instead they just posted someone to stare at them intently. I even saw the head steward ( who took no real responsibility for what was happening apart from a short rebuke during the HT shenanigans) high five several of the boys as they left at full-time
I also thought that the presence of a couple of police officers would have calmed things down considerably - but not sure if that's something club officials can decide when a game is in progress.

The Ultimate Soccer video also show the EC casuals reaction to Kyle's goal. First time I've even seen opposition fans attempting to mob a goalscorer!

In years gone by a couple of coppers were enough to calm events - worrying trend- especially in lower league football -of small gangs of youths causing distress to fans. Stewards are of no real use as they can often inflame events - better to have a PC Murdoch to project a withering eye !

Commentary from lesser known Still Game characters I think, here’s a link to highlights of the game! youtu.be/k49r05xCfjA

The commentary was reasonably fair but I could not get David's Still Game comment out of my head.
World class OG, our forward was fouled just before the EC man passed the ball into the met, noticed that at the game, but not too many protests.
Deserved win, onwards and upwards.

Can't beat a post from Bucky to lighten the mood! A very worthy substituute for Jimbo42. I will go for 0-0. OK I admit I am happy clappy. C’mon Brian it’s a forum for opinions. You of all people should uphold that when auld Tam Fagan barred you from Cliftonhill after your critical piece in the match programme when Rovers sold Shuggie Hill for a song. Bucky, just a bit of banter mate, football games are all about opinion. As for the sale of Hugh Hill, the programme article was headlined '4,000 reasons why the Chairman should resign', critical, perhaps, but mainly factually correct.

Brian - when I was a young Rovers supporter I quite literally looked up to you as you stood watching the game over the hill lol #FaganOut

As for the sale of Hugh Hill, the programme article was headlined '4,000 reasons why the Chairman should resign', critical, perhaps, but mainly factually correct. Would have been a great headline - but I've got the programme in front of me (v Berwick on 3 Oct 1981) and it is headed 'Over the Hill' (the passage of time can play tricks on us all)! But it's a stinging article. I had remembered it as being critical because HH was sold on the cheap (for £7,500), but it suggests something more sinister.... '...money was not the motive for selling him.....Prior to the League Cup match against Stranraer, the players were told of the time they had to report to the ground. This meant that all had to take time off work, resulting in lost wages. The players asked for reasonable compensation, but this was refused.....The players then said to the Directors that if adequate compensation was not forthcoming, then neither would the players. The possibility of a strike was averted because the Directors agreed to pay the sum asked for......our chairman...decided that the "ringleaders" of the strike will not be at Cliftonhill for much longer. According to our information, the "ringleaders" were four in number. And what a coincidence that Hugh Hill be one of the so-called ringleaders. We, on behalf of all supporters, have to ask Mr Fagan what sort of way is this to run a business.....Perhaps it is time for Mr Fagan to make way for someone who is better equipped to run a football club...'

I have spoken to Hugh Hill’s son on the Scottish football Facebook page. He said his Dad didn’t want to leave Rovers for Arbroath at that time but was firmly told by auld Tam Fagan he was going. End of story.
