……. Signs for Dumbarton
We have been surprisingly quiet about who has been released and who is staying at Cliftonhill from last season’s squad

Oh dear, player still under contract to us too. Let’s hope that Dumbarton sought and received permission from us prior to making this announcement……..

Can't really get on board with the pearl clutching on this one. I'm guessing his contract ends today (end of the playoffs) and players can sign pre contracts with less than 6 month left on a contract so its not a massive deal is it.
The club Tweet on this is a bit of an embarrassment- who'd want to sign for a team thats going to hang you out to dry like that for what is something that happens to every club every year.
If we weren't so painfully slow every year at doing business maybe it wouldn't happen so much, I know its difficult with a small budget and we are few players first choice but we've known we were safe for over a month surely thats when the planning should be starting. Every other club seems to be making moves while we stand still again.

100% agree Sam. Petty and embarrassing to adopt such a stance from the club.

Agree Sam. That tweet from today was a total redneck. Div Wilson is a good player no doubt will come back to haunt us next season. But he was one of the players whose hearts looked to be elsewhere after we were confirmed as safe. In the end if a player does not want to play for Albion Rovers then it’s goodbye and good luck to him.
I’m assuming Brian Reid will be the manager next year.

Now that we know that Bonnyrigg have been confirmed for next season it is imperative that we assemble as strong a squad as soon as possible. This will hopefully be more competitive league with Dumbarton/East Fife joining the mix along with the near misses of Forfar/Annan. When you throw in the strength of Stenhousemuir/Stranraer and Stirling it does not leave much else !! This will be a defining season in the history of Albion Rovers and we MUST step up to the mark as solid and as competitive from the very start - lets hope we can get ALL on board for this challenge.

Like I said weeks ago, the squad looked like several had been 'tapped' well before the end of the season. [Used to be against the rules, but there you go]

As Buchanan said, no point in fretting about it: if they don't want to be here, then please leave.

I reckon at least half of our squad was 'tapped' way before the end of the season. it would explain the disgraceful sham of a match which was the Stranraer game.

For the benefit of those of us not currently on Twitter, what did the offending official ARFC Tweet say, and who wrote and (more importantly) authorised it?

For the benefit of those of us not currently on Twitter, what did the offending official ARFC Tweet say, and who wrote and (more importantly) authorised it? Went along the lines of thanks for letting us know David with the usual lol’s. A second tweet went onto say notwithstanding the manner of the move the club wished him all the best. Very petty.

But not exactly impressive that he waltzed off and appeared with his Dumbarton scarf without a word. ['The team I always wanted to play for', etc]

['The team I always wanted to play for', etc] That’s not really the point David- players sign one year deals - the days of clubs holding players to ransom died along with the guy who clipped Tam Fagan’s cigars. Sam made the point earlier if the club could get it’s act together and let everyone know who is staying and who is not would be a good start. The season ended over two weeks ago.

All,
1. Brian Reid will be ARFC manager next season. 2. A number of players have been offered new deals and a squad update will be issued soon. 3. Brian also has plans to add some new players to the squad.
Thanks!

Jordan,
Thanks for clarifying current status. Can you please ensure the loyal Rovers fans find out as soon as possible on confirmed departures and arrivals. Hate finding out from other club social media accounts. Anyway, need to get back to my prayer sessions for my other alleged team 😎
