Apologies for the delay in posting. Had posted earlier but was just before approval had been received from the SPFL. Approval now received. There will be a fresh new look for the Wee Rovers when they take to the pitch at the Reigart this Saturday against Forfar Athletic. Well, when we say a fresh new look, possibly not so new! To commemorate the 140 years that Albion Rovers have been in existence, the Albion Rovers Supporters Trust have championed the idea and provided the club with the funding for a new third kit to be worn intermittently throughout the season. The new kit is a nod to the kit from 1882 which saw the team wear a royal blue shirt, white shorts and royal blue socks. To avoid the global supply issues being experienced, the kit chosen is not a bespoke design, but when you see it, I’m sure you’ll agree it looks great nonetheless. Come the end of the season the match worn shirts will be returned to the Supporters Trust for auction. This will give fans who missed out on player sponsorship the opportunity to get their hands on a match worn shirt from the 2022-23 season. The proceeds of the auction will be split equally and donated by the Supporters Trust to Maggies and St Andrew’s Hospice. The initiative not only helps us mark this special anniversary but also will generate much needed funds for two well loved charities. Albion Rovers Supporters Trust would like to extend our thanks to, Colin the club secretary, Football Nation, Brian Nugent for the historical kit advice and last but not least, Albion Rovers Football Club for supporting the initiative.
