Hi guys,
Kevin McCoy has been in contact with me with some more bad news tonight as Alastair Baird has passed away. Alastair done a power of work with the club before he had other work commitments and having some health issues.
Alastair from what I remember did a lot with trust, the club shop, the programme amongst other things.
Alastair passed away on the 2nd of November.
Funeral arrangements will be posted in due course.
I pass on my condolences at this very sad time to his friends and family.
RIP Alastair

Awful news.
Alastair was a lovely man - keen on fishing, railways, and his beloved Rovers. Shared many a memorable away trip with him and fondly recall his love of a dram, too.
Heartfelt condolences to his family & all who knew him.
Another huge loss that will be felt acutely amongst our small support.

I had some good away days with Alastair, I remember he went to the toilet in the 20th minute away to Berwick, only to fall asleep on the pan and be woken up by a goal in the 94th minute
I'm sure he represented Scotland in fishing competitions

I'm shocked to hear this sad sad news. I soent some time with him at trust meetings and a few non Rovers games too. As above fishing, trains, Rovers and a tipple although not necessarily in that order were his things!

I first met Alastair when I spotted him reading the Rovers programme on the train back to Glasgow from Coatdyke one Saturday many years ago, when I was between Billmobiles. As the other chaps have said, Alastair was a lovely guy, a real Rovers man, sadly missed at Cliftonhill in recent years and gone far too soon. RIP, Mr B.

I'm so sorry to know this. I got to know Alastair at Rovers matches, home & away, from more than 20 years ago. I had lived in Bishopbriggs for over 7 years long before meeting him but we shared a lot in common through that and his love of Rovers. I do remember he was involved with the Supporters trust, the club shop & the programmes, as Mossie has said. A lovely guy, I had many pleasant conversations with him but had missed him in recent years. Yes, far too young to go. My deepest sympathy to his family. RIP Alastair.

It was good to see a few Rovers folk in attendance at this funeral this morning, must say felt odd at first turning up wearing my Rovers scarf to a funeral.

I believe there will be a minute’s applause/ silence for Alastair before the game today.
