Comrades, any idea why the BBC (and other meeja outlets) often abbreviate our beloved club’s name to the stark and charmless ‘Albion’ when compiling league tables and reading out results? Indolence? Ignorance? Or a combination of the two? If Bonnyrigg get to keep their Rose, and Annan their Athletic, surely we are due our Rovers. A trivial matter, perhaps, but it fair does my heid in.

I have written to the BBC demanding an explanation. I’ll let you know if they deign to reply. 😠

Not at all trivial Bill! The very least they could do is give us the R.
Maybe we should start a media campaign entitled something like “We are Rovers”.

Given most of us call the team Rovers, yes it is an irritation to be abbreviated to Albion.
I suppose their argument might be that calling us Rovers would confuse the public between us and Raith, but then Albion might confuse us with Stirling.
Albion R, Albion Rov(s), would be OK, ask for ARFC, they don't have to put in the OK.
