There will be many who disagree with adding a new league to accommodate b teams myself one of them , they should bring back the old reserve leagues like there used to be, it would certainly help young players development including our own. However what I would agree is that increasing the sizes of the Scottish Premier league down to league 2 to possibly 18 teams in each division would be more beneficial there are plenty teams in lowland , West of Scotland Premier and East of scotland Premier more than capable of holding there own in league football, I dare say it could possibly also be more competitive.

The whole thing is horrendous: the Lowland league is a joke with 'B' teams in it.

Spot on Scottgkc16. Bigger leagues, restart the reserve leagues and dump the colts in them where they belong and may progress. The colts are damaging the clubs they play as they bring no fans.

Two top leagues of 18 gives 36 teams. Drop bottom 4 sides. Oops.
Agree that the leagues should be bigger. Presumably, we would get a season to work this out.
Colts should get lost, big teams buying places in a league smells of abuse of power, corruption, whatever you want to call it.

As much as we agree, apparently as this is a new seperate entity it doesn't need voted in Disaster if it goes through and will effectively drop over 200 teams down a level

I don't understand how it doesn't need a vote. Rovers and other teams could get together and get our reserve sides to form a league and make it 5th or 6th tier and maybe a 2nd reserve team and wedge it in too and the WoSL, Lowland and Highland leagues etc. are further removed from the top of the pyramid.

Leagues being bigger doesn't mean less games most players would prefer playing teams twice a season rather than 4 times a season , there is also never a meaningless game , play to win and climb as high as possible if that's not the mentality then why play competitively at all.
Just a curious question also do most people think that Eos, Wos, Sos , lowland and Highland leagues don't deserve the opportunity to try for promotion .

I don't understand how it doesn't need a vote The two Glasgow clubs, in concert with the SPFL, have kept coming up with ruses to get their B teams in the League and kept failing. So they have now come up with a cunning plan to create a separate structure which, they say, isn’t part of the SPFL and therefore can be done without a vote. Hmmm….. Either this 5th tier is part of the Scottish Leagues set up, or it isn’t. If it is, there will be promotion and relegation, which affects all member clubs and would therefore need to be voted on by clubs under current rules. Any attempt to deny a vote on the grounds that this was all a ‘separate structure’ wouldn’t last 5 minutes in any legal challenge. Or it is indeed something separate and therefore there could be no movement of clubs to other leagues at the end of the season, and what would be the point of that? Who would want to join such a league? Maybe they are gambling that League 2/Highland/Lowland league clubs would not want to take the financial risk of legal action against a ‘separate’ 5th tier, or it is a bargaining chip to try to get them to agree to something like a 16 club League 2 instead.
