Penalty miss costs us dear this time. Need a back up penalty taker. I’ll say it again but what’s wrong with the good old fashioned smashing it down the centre of the goals. Need a new penalty taker, not a back up. You’re correct. Niyah is a talented striker and had a great start. Let’s face it he’s the striker we were all crying out for last season. In these situations you want a Scott Chaplain type. Might be wrong but I don’t think Chappie missed a penalty for Rovers. I just don’t like these stop/start run ups to penalties. Looks good on the telly when scored though.

I remember always being fearful of an Alan Trouten penalty as he just calmly seemed to stroke it into the back of the net- never missed ? But i prefer the blast into the postage stamp Alan Shearer style !

Blast-from-the past Jered Stirling was an immaculate taker/convertor of penalties. Don’t recall Jered ever missing one (selective memory, no doubt).

When you try the pens like that you need to score or you look like an idiot. Twice in under a fortnight looks far from good and cost us a point yesterday. Bit of power near a corner and if it misses no one's giving any grief.

Frustrating is my general feeling. One that got away. We could have been 4-1 up, then could have been 4-1 down. We played really well for large parts of the game I thought. I’m going to cut Niyah a bit of slack at this pen miss as hard as that is to do! He did take it ‘normally,’ as far as I can recall. No stuttered run up, no hesitation, he hit it hard to a corner- exactly as people have said they wanted him to. Just too much at the corner obv!
I always try and think - well - the best players to have ever played the game have missed multiple pens. I wasn’t thinking that at 16:50 yesterday
At the end of the day it’s one point in a game we should have had won early 2nd half.

Nope that's not true, just watched it again on my phone incase I'm exaggerating. It was a 4 yard 'run' up and a near stop on connecting with the ball. For the record I like him as a player and would be starting him without doubt, but 2 missed pens taken pathetically is what it is.

I guess we’re just interpreting it differently. As we all do . So fair enough. When I rewatch - it looks as I described and remembered initially.

I filmed the penalty and he did hesitate in the run up . I have watched it a few times now but in fairness it was a bit unlucky he hit the post. It could easily have went in off the post but it rebounded and their keeper made a great save from the rebound and he had many good saves in the game and we also missed enough chances to win 2 games.
It was very disappointing to lose the game but I agree with Sam they were far quicker than us with the ball.
I have giving Arnie praise on here in recent matches against Tranent in the cup and Bo'ness in the league but after 20 mins on Saturday I could see he was toiling . He was up for a corner a few times and was running back to defend at a jogging pace . He was clearly struggling with either a foot injury or hamstring strain . He hobbled off not long into the second half and looked like he pointed to his leg when talking to Sandy going off. I doubt he will be fit for next few games coming up . I thought was Joe had some brilliant runs on Saturday and scored a great goal but he missed a great chance early on . Both keepers had great games A draw would have been a fairer result but if we can create as much chances against Stirling Uni we hopefully will win by a couple of goals .
