East Fife are having a bad start to the season, having garnered 2 just points from their 5 league matches to date. They have lost both home matches and failed to score any goals in these. In the second round of the Challenge Cup (they didn't participate in Round 1) they drew 0-0 against Dundee B at Dens Pk and won on pens. Their only win of the season so far and indeed only goals scored at home came in a 3-1 win over Elgin in the Viaplay Cup. I foresee a 2-0 Rovers triumph giving us another shot to be drawn away to Wales or NI in this cup. East Fife have announced a change to the admission charge on Saturday. It's still £10 for all adults but under 16's and carers now gain admission free of charge. Remember this is a 1pm k-o. Under 16's don't need a ticket. Buy your tickets online here or you should be able to buy them from their office on arrival.

Rovers to scrap through against league 2 opposition. Would love revenge for the last fixture up there from last season - it basically cemented our 10th spot.

Not long home after making a last minute decision to go , I have been very positive about this team in recent month's but our second half performance was probably our worst of the season. Our Assistant Manager George was constantly shouting at Joe - "Go left. Go right, get in the middle Joe", throughout the whole match which was needless when other players were very poor and not stepping up to help him out. I though Joe was unfairly singled out. Once again he was one of our hardest working players today and covered every blade of grass on the park.
Big Prince subbed early when he was causing them problems and a strange decision to say the least. Niyah plays better when Bright is playing beside him, as he did in the first half when he got his goal. He was poor when Bright went off. I didn't get a clear view of the first goal but their second goal started with them easily winning possession in midfield, which led to a passing move with not a single player putting a challenge in to any of their players and it was obvious it would lead to a goal and it did.
We gave them too much respect in second half and I though Stirling Uni looked a better team on Wednesday night than today's East fife. So a loss was hard to take .Joe worked hard again and he was all over the pitch and got hacked again on several occasions which went unpunished by the ref, who had previous against us.
On that second half performance we deserved to lose the game. I have noticed we are playing quite a few players out of position. Alex McCaw is a winger and playing as a number 10 and hasn't played on the wing since his great game at Annan, he has looked tired in last two matches and Dom had an off day today again and looked tired as well. Calum Wilson Centre mid was on bench today and never got in in that second half when our midfield went missing, I think we have lost balance in midfield since he has been out. Also we have played without a left winger starting all season and I don't think it's working. we need someone on that side and we haven't replaced Charlie. Josh Tran came on but looked like he was playing in midfield at times. Connor duffy played well today at left back but he's been asked to go forward too much in my opinion and Adam Fernie was more on the right wing today than he was in defence. There was gaping gaps when they scored. Scott Dunn started today at Centre half with Sean Fagan who went off injured near the end hobbling. Hope it's not too serious. Scott is mainly a left back and Arnie on bench again today. We need a big physical midfielder to help the guys out.
We were outthought today and todays second half reminded me of last years weakling's. Too many ball watching when they were running at us with the ball and we were standing off and not tackling. All the players clapped us today when leaving the field. Maybe they felt sorry for us after that second half showing. At least we can play some of our games in hand now. Some of our players need a rest and I would like to see our fringe players including (Reidy) starting against our 10th tier opposition next week . Some of our players need a rest and some need to build their fitness up. Rant Over !

I think that fitness will be a factor in this type of league this season. We have various cup tournaments as well as midweek games in a greater scale than we had in league 2 and our ability to stay focussed for 90 minutes will be critical. I think our Achilles heel is our inability to see games through from winning positions or from positions of strength in an earlier part of games. We need this to be a mixture of physical strength and mental strength to have an impact on the finish of games. This can only come from experience and we have a young squad who need time to apply this logic. A difficult past week that the players have hopefully learnt from.

Didn't make game today but comments about George Paterson on touchline sound very familiar to what I saw at Boness a couple of weeks ago. It was constant, and were I player, just confusing. Talk about more heat than light. And Joe got the brunt of it that night too, again, having run himself into the ground.

He was watching Joe the majority of the game Ed and missed some bad mistakes from others. there was no shouting from him when we lost the 2nd goal, even though it could have easily been prevented.

Have to agree re the assistant manager. On the players’ backs the whole game (Joe in particular). His shouts and instructions are not helpful and only seem to be serving to confuse the team. Half the time they didn’t seem to know whether they were coming or going.
One particular example was when EF had a free kick outside our box, on their left. Joe was picking up the 18 (or 16?) on the edge. Joe was shouted at to drop into the box, and you could tell Joe was confused. Sure enough, the ball was squared to the now free player, who took a touch and played it into the box, with Joe having not a hope of getting out on time.
Sandy doesn’t behave like this, and maybe a word is required because it really seems to be having a negative impact. I’m sure it’s being done with the best of intentions.
