People on the other thread were questioning whether the game would go on. For it to have been called off shows that pitch was no better than 50/50 and should therefore have had an earlier inspection. Petrol and time wasted tonight. Can't say I'll be racing to do it again midweek.

I could see this happening when the forecast from Met Office was to be -1 & -2 during the match!

Pitch was no different to Saturday - if anything, a little better. Both managers were happy for the game to go ahead but the ref decided otherwise.

Heard that the Bonnyrigg manager was unhappy with the game being played on Saturday and I’m not surprised- never seen a game go ahead at Cliftonhill with ice visible on the pitch. Didn’t get to see the pitch tonight - but was really surprised it was still on when it was obvious it was going to be a cloudless night with the consequent low temperature. In years gone past neither game would have been on I’m sure

The stand side of the park did look a bit dodgy on Sat as the ‘sun’ doesn’t get at that bit, plus the Bonnyrigg manager reckoned it wasn’t playable… mind you cattle do struggle when the ground isn’t covered in shit, Given the temp hasn’t risen that much in the past few days surely it was possible for the ref to be asked to come up a bit earlier to check.

Just got told sitting in Owen’s!!!! FFS this is Dumbarton esq. just as well Scotrail are shit at taking fares as it cost me hee haw to get up here, just have to hide in the toilet on the way back down the road 😉 Here’s hoping the central heating is on at the school tomorrow night.. wouldn’t want another late call off For those who have been waiting for an update… toilet was out of service ,(which to those who use the train will have came as no surprise), however no need to worry as the ticket ‘person’ was as scarce as they were on the journey up.

Shocking communications. Rushed over from Choir practice in Blantyre and only checked when I saw so few cars. 815pm. Aargh. Should’ve saved all your hot air for blowing onto the pitch- game would have been on 🤣

The weather forecast from now until Saturday indicates that the temperature will be continually at, or below, freezing point, often dropping to minus 5 centigrade overnight. If the pitch was unplayable last night, Saturday's game has no chance.

Checked earlier in the day and no mention of an inspection, which didnt make sense to anyone who has a TV or radio or who isn't house bound - it was Baltic! So planned things around attending only for a late call off- total waste of time. Welcome to the Didi league in winter. Another reason to put folk off attending what is pretty poor stuff anyway.

However, it was great to see the outstanding efforts of one director today putting the covers on the pitch single handedly in an effort to give the game a chance of being on. Ronnie

I think we can guess who that sole Director was...well done to him...however at least one of our small BOD has a full time job.
