Surely it is not an unreasonable request to ask what the criteria was to invite individuals to join this conclave...and who did the inviting? I would liked to have been included given that the last time the begging bowl was passed round I contributed and that I do have some expertise in business management. I acknowledge that attending meetings for me is out of the question but in this day and age there is Zoom, Teams etc.

Would we be able to get some sort of update on how this is looking? Not expecting everything laid out on here as I don’t know what stage it’s at. I understand people will be doing a lot of work in the background and to be honest I don’t have a problem with that. Is it looking like a realistic option? If so, then it would be nice to see what the next steps are and how we would all go about being a part of it. Even just something so that we can start to see where we are in the process and what the future may hold rather than people going back and forth on here and everyone else being in the dark as to what’s actually happening. Good to hear from you Gregg and I hope the family are doing well. It would be great to catch up for a blether soon. I’m old fashioned in that I like to have something to say before I say it. Just trying to get as much information as possible from organisations like Supporters Direct, Scottish Football Supporters Association and the Scottish Government’s Fans Bank etc before moving to the next stages. Also looking forward to discussions shortly with our Supporters Trust to find if the idea is feasible and if yes how best to proceed. Informal soundings show there is interest in the idea of fan ownership. However, quite rightly people would want to see the details. Also I wouldn’t claim that it is unanimous support. Looking to get a statement out in the next few weeks on progress made. I hope this helps. Ronnie

Ronnie, you are correct about the 'sleeping giant' that is Clydebank. I was at Holm Park on Saturday for their game v Gartcairn. The crowd was definitely more than 500 as a quick count indicated that there was in excess of 300 on the river side of the ground. There was clearly a bigger crowd for the game v Pollok on 27th January that I also attended. Twenty odd years from the sellout of the original club to Airdrie United has not diminished the support and their town's determination to see their club prosper. That despite becoming nomadic tenants at Dumbarton and Greenock during that period. Whether the citizens of Coatbridge would get behind a fan owned club is open to debate. Nobody will know until it is a reality. Incidentally Holm Park is the historical home of Yoker Athletic. I don't know the arrangement between the clubs, but a significant amount of money has been spent on a recently laid plastic surface, as well as terracing improvements. Regarding Pollok, I have attended games at Newlandsfield this season where the crowds have been even bigger than those at Clydebank. A match earlier in the season v Benburb attracted somewhere north of 1100 and their game v Beith in November had almost 800 fans. I attended both of those, as well as their Scottish Cup tie v Gala Fairydean which also drew a large crowd. Rab Crangle stated that Pollok FC has spent a fortune bringing Newlandsfield up to senior standard. Frank Meade and I attend Pollok matches on average about 4 or 5 times a season together, or separately, depending on circumstances. It is Frank's local club, as he lives not far from there. The only improvements that we are aware of over the past twenty years or so are upgraded floodlights, the funding for which was grant aided, I understand. A recent rumour is that Pollok are investigating selling up and moving to Lesser Hampden, partly due to the fact that Newlandsfield will never be suitable for SPFL licence requirements. Their current financial issues have probably been caused by the same issue that recently raised its head at Darvel, overspending on players and not achieving the desired result i.e. promotion to the Lowland League. As I've alluded to above, I've watched many of the teams in the WOSFL this season. Clydebank, Beith, Darvel, Gartcairn and Pollok would be a match for any of the teams in the Lowland League, including the runaway leaders East Kilbride, IMO. Pity that the junior clubs didn't buy into it when the pyramid was first mooted, as it stopped the top junior clubs taking their rightful place in the 5th tier of Scottish Football, instead the Rovers are playing the likes of Edinburgh Uni, Gretna 2008, Gala and Caley Braves, each of which has virtually no travelling support. Very interesting information Robert. Was waiting to hear your views on possible fan ownership at the Rovers. Would be interesting to find out what you think. Ronnie

I have to admit this thread is becoming tiresome.
For those that are interested. I am part of this conclave, magic circle, masonic conspiracy, Opus Dei or whatever you may think it is.
I wasn’t secretly voted on to it, my ball wasn’t any hotter than the next persons and I didn’t have a special dispensation from the local council…. not that they could care less
I stuck my hand up and said I’d like to see if there was a way that my football club may prosper and continue playing and keep it away from eejits like the clown that turned up at the open meeting or the Jeremy Kyle show as it turned out to be
I agreed, as did the others of this to look at the pros and cons of fan ownership with a group of like minded supporters. If it’s felt it is something that can work then why not pursue it further, if it’s felt it has nothing going for it then it’ll be dead in the water.
That’s it. There is no secret so get over it.
It’s the Rovers, you don’t need a passcode or secret symbol to support them so can we please put personalities to the side and stop this petty bickering.
Yours The Great Soprendo…
ah F,?k that’s the code word!!!!….
sorry Master

I think if you step back and look at the full thing objectively, you’ll see it for what it is. I’ve no idea what the crowd was today, but it was significantly boosted by the youngsters from Ultimate Soccer, and kudos to George Paterson (Asst Manager) for generating interest and income for the Club by dishing out free tickets during the week.
To me, these ongoing meetings have been discussed amongst certain circles and not the wider fan base. That is poor no matter what “side” you are on. We are a small club, and as I’ve already said, fan wide consultation and open invitations to these meetings would have been most welcome. Instead, there was handpicked folk invited to attend and, to quote my source (since there was a demand for that!) concern that both the meetings, attendees, and, to a limited extent, their agendas were known outwith the circle.

It’s just my opinion, Sam, and that’s the whole point of this forum, is it not?

What are you on about, Kev?
I’ve never been irked that I wasn’t invited, indeed I was on the BOD when the wheels were being put in motion so didn’t expect to be asked to attend. It’s quite telling, when someone who is quite inactive on this forum suddenly perks up and starts to contribute. Odd.

True though, isn’t it?
Your last contribution to this forum was in July last year and it’s fair to say quite a lot has happened since then - yet you’ve said nothing.
Would appear, wouldn’t it, that something has clearly “irked” you?
😜

It’s just my opinion, Sam, and that’s the whole point of this forum, is it not? It certainly is Jordan and I’m all for it, however 9 pages of the same stuff is becoming tiresome.. hence my tongue in cheek response earlier I get it you have doubts about it… you may be right… then again you might be wrong. Time will tell I’m sure

I don’t need alcohol to speak my mind and never have, Kev, but it says a lot about you that you’re willing to stoop to that level. I know nothing of your affection for ARFC or otherwise, but the fact you need to present a list says it all really. Seems you’ve got a problem with me personally yet I’m the one with “mean girl” vendettas. Wild.

Not been in here for a while, but read through all of this… some interesting points on both sides.
However, I really don’t understand the calls to lock this thread? Isn’t a forum a place to for discussion and to put their thoughts or opinions across? You need to let people bang heads together as I’m sure the outcome of it will be a positive one.
Also, what I do think is strange is the idea that this fan ownership is currently been opened to hand picked people. It should be open to all from the get go. Transparency is key during this and if there is any doubt it just breeds through others and can taint the intentions. We want people to invest money, but if there is sort of off behaviour from the get go of it I’m sure people would be very hesitant in getting involved.
