Worst Rovers' performance for years. Dreadful. One to forget. At least the Airdrie score was funny. Queen's Park's constant diving was entertaining.

Sitting where we are in the league we are in against all odds, and going into the game on the back of a midweek win in Brechin, we can't complain too much about today but that was an atypical Rovers performance to say the least.
Our main creators, Boyd and Wallace, made the chance for Stewart to tap in early on but that was one of very few moments when our forward players had the ball at their feet. QP came back into the game and made it hard for us after that, but there were serious shortcomings in midfield. Gary Fisher had one of his most ineffective games in a long while but as per he put a shift in until the very end. Ross Gilmour was very poor today.
Tactically I think the manager was wrong to change things so drastically after going 2-1 down. Changing to a back three just made the players seem more uncomfortable in and out of possession, and Queen's Park actually had more clear-cut chances in the second half than in the first. We never really came close to scoring in the second half and all three subs were ineffective.
Strong shout for a Rovers penalty in the first half, but nobody but the team is to blame for the defeat. No time to panic though, they should be looking to pick themselves up and win the next two games to make up for this bad day and gather some points ahead of a torturous January when we are scheduled to play each of the current top 4 and Celtic. Stenny may have shocked Airdrie but having tired themselves out today and playing again on Tuesday night, we have the beating of them.

That was a waste of time and money today. 2-1 flattered us!! Brutal and no harm to the keeper but their second was laughable

If the fans were to do what the players done today and decided oh I can't be bothered showing up for this game then we would really be in some state, that performance today was disjointed unprofessional and quite frankly an embarrassment and if that is acceptable to the manager then his time is well and truly up. This team is badly underperforming quite frequently now and if they are not in a playoff place at the end of the season then he will carry the can . How we can go to places like Livingston and play them of the park away then go to a fair Queens Park team and turn in such a crap performance like that is unacceptable in my mind and all this nonsense about over achieving is not something I accept anymore ,we are not over achieving we are underperforming inconsistent and today was about as low as it's got so far, next week is now a must win in my mind no,excuses Stenhousemuir are a poor team ,and I know they got a result today but Airdrie have clearly had an of day happens from time to time, but if you don't put the effort in on the park ,are second to every ball and stand so far back from any team like we were today then you will be in big trouble.Three points next week or I will be questioning the managers ability to motivate and organise the team.

Not going down the sack the manager road (maybe next week) but have no idea what his plan was today. 1 up in three minutes and we could have coasted to a win but then we sit back and let them dictate the game. Reidy at left back then right wing while gilmour was having a mare at right back. Bizarre! Three points thrown away by management stupidity.

Not the best performance today need to be sharper and not give ball away so easily. That's all I'm gonna say, don't want to criticise any individual players. These same players have fought well for the team and they'll know this was a bit below par. Nuff said.

The division is so tight that some days you win and look/feel great and other days you are less good. Quite impressed by East Fife on BBC Alba, 2nd bottom, start of game, played well. Right now i would settle for position 8 in the league, a play off place is possibly a bridge too far, staying up is what matters.
Position 8 and a cup run after Cwltic, of course.

A very even league this, as shown by our results against the league leaders and the fact that the bottom two won away today against teams in the top three. I wouldn't panic on the basis of one game, but in truth we were a shambles for much of today and it would have been an injustice to QP if we had taken anything from the game. I still think our first pick line-up would have Kyle Turnbull at left back and have to wonder if he has blotted his copybook with something we won't be told.

It was a bad day at the office today however it's amazing how quickly certain folk jump on top of the players/management. We are a VERY good team however certain folk forget that too easily sometimes. Beating QOS to earn a very lucrative game against Celtic matters not a jot. And we're sitting mid-table in a higher league. Yes - everything's pretty crap!!!

Everybody is entitled to their opinion good or bad on today's game, or for that matter - any other subject that is raised on the forum. There are malcontents on the forum who if you don't agree with their opinion - throw the rattle out of the pram.We may not all agree on certain things - but respect everybody's right to a voice or dare I say it - an opinion!.

So, I summed it up in one word earlier "brutal" but you know I'm not going to leave it there as after all we're only a "small local club" and it really is all about me, me, me at the end of the day.
The afternoon didn't get off of to the best of starts when we nearly sparked an international incident by warming up in front of the proper goals instead of 'off to the side' where the temporary goals were set up. Jeez I said to myself, thank God Mark McGhee isn't here or there would be trouble. So we narrowly avoided a 'Motherwell-gate' episode but eventually we did move over to the temporary set up so maybe Mark had a video link set up and was monitoring us remotely.
QP made us feel at home and had some posters up welcoming the Rovers to Hampden. A nice touch and I saw some people taking pictures of the posters. Then I saw a couple of kleptomaniac Rovers fans take the posters off the wall, roll them up and take them away!! Seriously?!?!?!
A few surprises in the line up today and only a few subs named. Don't know why we were short of numbers and personnel but the changes we made didn't help us I don't think.
First chance of the game fell to QP after about 2 mins. We were on the attack but when the move broke down, the QP player ran from his own half all the way to our box without a challenge being put in. He put in a fairly decent cross which Mick deflected, causing keeper Ross to make a decent reaction save.
Next thing you know, we're 1-0 up. Ryan and Boydy combined well down the right hand side with Ryan firing in a cross-cum-shot which Ross Stewart finished tidily at the back post, firing high into the roof of the net from a few yards out. That was after 5 mins and I sat back, lit a cigar and awaited the expected goals avalanche. But it wasn't to be.
The Rovers lead lasted about 5 mins before we gave away a fairly cheap penalty. A sweeping QP move saw their attacker drift across our box. Keeper Ross was committed and as the guy went round him he clattered into him and a penalty it was. It looked like a penalty to be fair and Ross was booked. Last season that would have been a red card but only a yellow this year. The penalty was duly dispatched, with Ross getting close to it, but that was 1-1.
The game settled down a bit after that with both sides playing some half decent stuff on the deck. Unfortunately Rovers sat in really, really deep and allowed QP to come on to us at will. Ryan was a constant threat on our infrequent breakaways but QP had virtually all the possession and looked much more likely to score. QP looked full of energy and frankly we were off the pace I thought.
A few observations then. First Mark Ferrie. Does he ever pass the ball forward? Ever? Even once? Once this season never mind in this game? No he doesn't is the answer. Second Boyd. My hero Boyd. He plays like he's 5 years old. Great skill but does he look up? No he doesn't. Does he always look to beat at least 1 man too many? Yes he does. Is it beginning to do my head right in? You better believe it.
Back to the game. We had one more decent move in the first half when Ryan burst down the right and fired in a low cross. There were a few shouts for a penalty but it never was and the ball broke away to safety. QP nearly went 2-1 up when a good move saw a decent cross only partially met and Ross saved easily. Then Ferrie did really well getting the ball out our box only to lose it cheaply to a QP player who ran on and hit a decent shot which hit the post. And unfortunately that was to be almost repeated when QP went 2-1 up.
Okay so keeper Ross made a howling attempt at a save at their second goal. An average shot from outside the box which was straight at him was somehow fumbled and ended up in the back of the net. But that goal started with a Ferrie masterclass, and not in a good way. No idea what he was thinking but inexplicably instead of clearing his lines he attempted some dribbling thing, maybe he even thought about passing the ball forward and it messed with his brain. Either way he ended up making a hash of it, fell to the deck and gifted the ball to the QP player. Ross should have done better, a lot better, but Ferrie was absolutely culpable in the build up. Cards on the table, I looked outside earlier and when I saw it was raining I thought that must be Mark Ferrie's fault. So hands up from me there but honestly I wouldn't have him in my team.
We were dire from after our goal and although we more or less gifted the 2 goals to QP we couldn't complain about being behind at half time. They had all the possession and most of it was in our half.
Into the second half and most of the chances seemed to fall to QP. A few shots from long range and a few well worked moves ended with crosses into the box which they couldn't convert. Unfortunately we saw the worst of QP in the second half when their blatant time wasting and even more blatant diving came to the fore. Honestly virtually every time a challenge went in they were throwing themselves to the ground as if they had been shot. So aye, be true to your amateur heritage, don't tuck your shirts in and all that crap and throw yourselves around like a cheating bunch of gits. Hope you're proud of yourselves. The ref should have spotted this and stamped it out early on but we know what the standard of refereeing is like at this level.
We backed off QP the whole game and got what we deserved from it. I don't really remember their keeper having a save to make the whole of the second half. We picked up a wee bit towards the end when a long ball from keeper Ross fell to Ryan. He crossed but no one could finish. Apart from that we had one decent long range effort straight at the keeper. From that, QP went right up the park and nearly scored a carbon copy of our first goal after Ross Dunlop slipped, but fortunately no one could finish.
We pushed Mick up front for the last 5 minutes because as I've said before that always guarantees us a goal, except it never has. Ever. In fact today we went one better when we pushed both Dunlops forward because after all, putting one up is so successful, hell why not put them both up there? It's embarrassing. And it doesn't ever, ever work.
Keeper Ross had a couple of good saves at the end as we pushed for the equaliser and left gaps at the back. He was quick to come out and block two decent QP efforts.
So 2-1 it finished and our QP hex is over. After Stenny's fine win at Airdrie I'm not looking forward to next week. We ran out of steam today very early on. Reidy was done after about 70 minutes and I couldn't work out if he went forward and couldn't get back or if Darren pushed him further forward in a tactical change. We struggled on that big Hampden pitch and QP looked much fitter than us.
Fish had an okay game but not one of his best. Ryan caused them problems with his pace on occasion but he lacked decent service. Keeper Ross sold the second goal but had a few decent saves. As for the rest - pretty much anonymous. Don't want to be too harsh and maybe it's just part time football but today was a bit of a shocker and needs to serve as a wake up call. Although to be honest between the Brechin game and this one I'd have settled for 3 points so I'm probably going to go to bed happy.
Crowd was 662. Those QP fans are a bit 'special' if you know what I mean. Rovers man of the match - maybe Ryan, potentially Ross in goals for his saves. Maybe their second goal took a deflection or something - maybe any highlights will make it clear.
Just a few points to finish with and acknowledging some of the chat on this forum over the last few days. Everyone is entitled to their opinion - of course they are - even me; hell, especially me. If it was up to me (and frankly it should be as this is after all, all about me) then I would:
1. Sack the Board. Accounts not published/published late, threadbare squad, dilapidated stadium that we are paying a kings ransom for the privilege of sitting in every other week. 2. 'Mutually consent' the manager. People calling for his head after a few poor performances. I'm not his biggest fan but I do think he's doing a pretty fine job in an ultra-competitive league with limited resources. Plus it could be worse, he could be playing himself (Darren or Ferrie; Ferrie or Darren, help mammy, daddy!!). He does need some reinforcements and let's see what the January transfer window brings. 3. Replace the bus convener. After all anyone else could do that thankless, unpaid and unrewarding task at least a thousand times better, cheaper and with toilets, and free match tickets thrown in. And dancing girls and boys. And a big cherry on top. And jam, lots of jam. 4. Keep the delightful lady (and I do mean that, she is very nice) who runs the Rovers cafe at home matches. The least said about the organisation of all of that the better and fair play to QP, their set up is slick and professional. But for the love of God it's expensive. Over £5 for a pie and 'bobtail'!! What is that all about? For some reason 'Bovril' keeps coming up as 'bobtail' on my spellcheck and I'm quite liking that as a description.
Discuss, ha!!
Anyway, roll on Stenny next week and back to winning ways I feel.
Last time I write this drivel with a drink in me. Is Prosecco a real drink?

Don't bother turning up at Ochilview next week as we can do without "supporters" like you. You are talking utter tripe.
